I had an oil leak that was incorrectly diagnosed elsewhere. After a thorough diagnostic, they explained exactly what the problem was and how to fix it. They also made recommendations on how to save money on some other issues that would soon require service. The new managers, Justin and Alex, are professional and personable. They had my car ready ahead of schedule. It was washed and it runs beautifully. This is more like the “old D&R” used to be. Very pleased with the great service. Thanks, guys!

I’ve owned 10+ cars and worked with most auto body shops on the north shore in some capacity. From now on, D&R will be the first place I call. Several reasons: 1. Kind honest people - I know more about cars than 99% of the people bringing their cars in. I work on mine and when others complete work on my car I research cost estimates, level of urgency based on the issue, and how to complete the work itself. D&R is run by transparent people who will always pick up the phone talk you through what needs to be done now vs later, talk through their approach, and will educate or brainstorm with you. Shoutout to Alex, he is wonderful to work with specifically. You’re a great dude with impressive recall on all the nuances of my car (which I’m sure is one of dozens you’re keeping track of at the same time). 2. This is the type of business you want to support - in today’s day and age, businesses are adding on incremental cost wherever possible. Most shops will upsell you on services and you will be left scratching your head on if the issue they described even is as severe as was indicated. On the other hand, D&R auto gives free loaners, will be honest with you when they aren’t seeing issues you outlined, and know exactly how to build trust and credibility. 3. Fair pricing - their labor rates are on the higher side if you’re driving a budget car (e.g., VW like me), but pretty competitive for higher end cars like Audis and Porsches. Their materials costs are reasonable and if you inquire they will provide full transparency on the cost breakdown split bifurcated between labor and materials for each service.

Great experience at D&R autoworks! I needed my car completely inspected and an oil change done on short notice. They got me in the same day and had the car ready in just a few hours. The front desk staff was professional and kept me updated the whole time. The shop itself was clean and organized, which gave me a lot of confidence in their work. I recommend this shop time and time again. I'll definitely be back for all future services!

They are cordial and professional but the pricing and thoroughness are lacking. I had a difficult to diagnose engine code, I provided everything I had done to the car (quite a lot). I thought I would get a thorough diagnosis but instead they used their OBD II scanner, used details I had told them from my own investigations, didn’t touch the engine (though their report said there were metals flakes in my oil), and billed me $270 for a diagnosis (most of which was based on details I had given them about what I had done to the car). When asked what I should do they said I needed a new engine, which, for a rough order of magnitude would cost 7-8k. Basic and straight forward services they are great for (eg brakes, fluids, etc). And they have a complimentary shuttle/porter service which is great. But, for really complex work and diagnosis they will just try to do what is easiest for them (replace engine) vs figure out what can be done. And $270 for an OBD II diagnosis is ridiculously expensive.

Have been servicing my car for many years at D&R. Price seems right, people are really great and never a problem they don't solve. It doesn't seem like they try to do more than is needed. Seem honest. Very happy with their service and we plan to continue having our car serviced there. The courtesy car is definitely a plus.
