Chicago Discount Tires

My experience yesterday (6/18/26) with Chicago Discount Tire in Franklin Park stands in stark contrast to a lot of other reviews here. The staff was professional, fast, and the price came in well below what I expected. I'd just landed at O'Hare from a trip and found a flat tire on my 2019 Toyota Avalon. The parking garage attendant topped off the tire with air and pointed me to Chicago Discount Tire. Tired from travel and facing a long drive home, I braced myself for a hit to both my schedule and my wallet. Instead, I was back on the road in under an hour, having paid just $160 for a newly installed high-end tire. Mark, the owner, walked me through my options — including the pros and cons of just driving home on the spare versus replacing the tire right there — and then showed me how to recover the cost through my road hazard insurance back home. I appreciated that he laid out the choice instead of just pushing a sale. While we waited, we got to meet his kids: his daughter, who works the front office while figuring out her next move in college, and his son, who was nearby helping a neighborhood friend work on his baseball game. We also chatted with a few of the mechanics, all friendly and easygoing. Bottom line: I'd go back for tires or auto repair in a heartbeat. (Photos are attached of my original tire, nearly new, with the nail in the side wall. Also, I confirmed the CDT diagnosis of not patching with my at-home mechanic. They agreed with wholeheartedly.)

Can’t complain about this place—I’ve been coming here for oil changes on my cars a few times now. The owner is friendly and the service gets done quickly and efficiently. My most recent oil change was on a Saturday, and I arrived just 10 minutes before closing. The crew still took care of it without any issue. I’ll keep coming back—no problems so far, and the shop has been reliable every time. Definitely a solid local spot!

Do not recommend unless you want to deal with unprofessional people. They also charge you just to check your tire and will recommend the most expensive option as a recommendation, when there was a cheaper same resulting option.

I once went to replace two stabilizer links on a Nissan Pathfinder. I brought my own stabilizer links, and they quoted me $40 for replacement several times. But when they replaced the stabilizer links, which takes about 20-30 minutes, they wanted to charge me $400. I had $300 on me, and I had to hand it over because the scammers wouldn't give me the keys to my car.

PLEASE SHOW YOURSELF&YOUR CAR SOME LOVE&RESPECT!!! DO NOT GO TO THIS SHOP, EVER!!! ANYWHERE ELSE IS BETTER!!! I don't think I ever had a worst experience at a car shop ever. They took my car in for the day to fix a check engine light on and a kicking feeling when gearing up, it cost me $700(supposedly a sensor issue in the transmission).Picked up my car, seemingly running good until 7 days later when the light came back on and the kick worse than before. Car goes back in the shop, Sam(man in charge) claims a part they replaced was defective so they need to call "The Company" (no name) to order another part. Ok, no problem. The car spends a night there, no update on the next day so my bf calls the shop and they tell him they'll call him back(yesterday). They never did so he calls again and again and again, no answer. Finally this morning he called again and he's told they'll call back in 10 min. They never did so he went to the shop and the car is not even there and nobody had seen it. He asked if they have worked on it today or yesterday but it seems nobody had seen the car. So he called the cops, not even 5-10min later Sam shows up with the car yelling and screaming that nothing is wrong with the car.. my bf asked where was the car for the passed hour (or better for the passed 2 days)since he arrived in the shop, Sam claims he took it for a test drive (absolute nonsense if nobody in the shop ever saw the car all day) They never did anything on my car and took the money, car is still there and I can't wait to get it out of the shop. I'm afraid they'll do more damage to it than repair. THIEVES & LIARS!!! They take only cash and give only hand written receipts with no legit warranty for anything they do. Absolutely unprofessional, very hostile and rude to customers! GO ON YOUR OWN RISK!!! I should've read the comments before I let all that happen. Pray for my car 🙏 and possibly me when I get in the driver seat.. ***UPDATE*** Only a week after all that the same thing happened to my car so I took it to another mechanic who was very honest and told me the code he sees is P2716 which means it's electrical and it has something to do with programming. He suggested I take it to the dealership. After few hours at the dealership they determined they had to replace the ECM and finally my car is running good. It took them exactly 2 hours to do that. Another$900+ ot of my pocket but worth it. I wish I could get my money back from SCUMBAG Sam for lying to me, he did not replace anything at all and took $700 for nothing.
