We were customers of Elite Tire & Auto for years. For years, we stored our winter tires there and the able and kind mechanics there swapped our winter tires out for all-weather tires when the Chicago winter finally decided to stop punishing us. Every year we'd get a few calls reminding us of this swap. Around Covid, things went sideways. We forgot. I got cancer. After that rough patch, WE WERE BACK! We got the call for winter tires, we took the car in, I said, we need our winter tires put back on. Gent behind the desk got a bemused look in his eye and started walking to another desk to look at their new tire inventory. I said, no no no. We store our tires here. Oh. Ok. My mistake. Winter comes, winter tires do their job, the calls start for switching our tires BACK to our all-weather / summer tires. This time, my son goes in. It's his car now, we're trying to teach him how to take care of things himself. He goes in. He says, 'my parents have tires here for me.' This time the misdirect works. No sales moment was discussed. No, here's your options. Here's your prices. New tires, put on our 16-year-old car. Toyos. Which I never would have picked, because I prefer Continental Tires. The bill? $600! In short, my son was hustled and Elite Tire lost a long-standing and once loyal customer. My son learned a lifelong lesson. Tire sales guys are hustlers in it for a buck. It's a sad day, all around.

I had a similar experience as another woman who posted a review. Went in for a check engine light and flex pipe. He said I needed to replace both oxygen sensors and a severed wire for the check engine light. For repairs and the flex pipe, I was quoted at $1500. I went to get a second opinion, and there was no issue with my oxygen sensors and to fix my flex pipe and the severed wire, I paid way less than what Rod had claimed it would be. I would avoid this place or get second opinions on your quotes.

View on GoogleI've been taking my cars to Rod at Elite for six years and can't recommend them highly enough. Repairs are done right, and they stand behind their work. Things I love: they're open until 8 every night, they're right next to the Metra and Oak Park Green Line, it's hands down the cleanest shop I have ever set foot in, and it's "sir" and "ma'am" for every person who walks in the door. You won't find any bargain fixes here, but it's an excellent alternative to a dealer in terms of quality of repairs, price, reliability, and convenience.
