General Auto Repair is the ONLY place I’ll take my cars. I was new to Illinois when my Genesis broke down. I didn’t know where to take it and found this place. They personally towed my car to their shop, inspected my car and were able to pinpoint what the exact issues were. Not only did they tell me the issues and tell me the repair cost, they told me what parts I needed, where they were ordering them from, and took me to the car and educated me on what the issue was. They explained everything up front and gave me all of their recommended options and allowed me to decide. When they completed my car repair, they called me in and showed me the faulty parts they replaced. I won’t take my cars to any other place. They are straight shooters and trustworthy. They have more than earned my trust and I recommend everyone to this shop. They treated my car like it was their own. Best shop, hands down. Second best isn’t even close.

One of the best shops I have ever found! I’m a student and it was hard to find anyone not trying to outrageously over charge me, they are great! Very honest and helped me out so much! They are accommodating and amazing people. I will never go to any other mechanic but this one. Honestly, 10/10 and 100% recommend.

Found a nail in my tire. They squeezed me into their schedule for a quick patch. I was in and out in about 15 minutes. Excellent service and excellent work at a very reasonable price.

I had a nail in my right rear tire and was despondent thinking I'd need to buy at least 2 new tires. My partner told me that nowadays, a nail in a tire isn't a big deal and can be fixed so I looked online for a tire place to fix it and found General Auto Repair. They had amazing reviews so I called the next day, after they had closed, figuring I'd leave a message requesting an appointment. Even though they closed at 6 and it was 6:37 pm, amazingly, somebody picked up! Jamon (sp?) offered to wait for me if I wanted to bring my car over right then. Unfortunately, I was downtown in Chicago -- not in Evanston, so I declined -- but I was blown away by the thoughtfulness and incredible customer service of the gentleman who answered the phone. When I arrived at 9 am this morning for said appointment, there was no sign of fellow with whom I spoke via telephone. Instead, William greeted us warmly and he was awesome! He put my car up on the jack, spun the wheel so I could point out the nail in my tire and sure enough, he said he could fix it while I waited (!) saving me another trip back later in the day. Best of all, it was $20. I was beyond thrilled. It took 15 mins or less for him to fix and is now good as new. William also checked all my tires and filled them to the appropriate pressure levels as a courtesy -- I didn't ask him to do this. He was so kind and thorough. This place may not look the nicest but the folks running it are gems! Honest, courteous, efficient. I will gladly go back next time I have an issue with my car. Give it a try... don't be put off by the rough exterior. This is a great local place run by real gentlemen.

I was blown away. Amir (pronounced Ameer) and Danny have been amazing from the start. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes for a part that I had sitting in my house for 2 years because I was unable to replace it myself. Needless to say, Mazda refused to replace it unless I buy it from them for 4 times the price. Danny, who did the work, is absolutely amazing, honest, polite, knowledgeable. No BS. Just old fashion car repair. There are no bells and whistles, and that's great, because I am tired of car dealers' mark-ups because you have a wonderful lounge with a big screen TV and free coffee. Amazing shop. Do yourself a favor and go there.
