I brought my 2012 Dodge Avenger in because my check engine light was on. Right away, what stood out to me was Megan’s knowledge about vehicles. She was able to explain things clearly and confidently, which immediately gave me confidence in the shop. Before bringing it in, I had gone to O’Reilly Auto Parts and was told the code suggested the engine wasn’t getting hot enough. I was told it could possibly be a thermostat issue, and I was prepared to spend around $424 to replace the thermostat housing. When I explained this to Megan, she told me, “I’m not going to let you blindly throw $424 at this car. Let’s diagnose it first.” That statement alone told me a lot about their integrity. The car also had a pending P0420 code related to the catalytic converter, which I had recently replaced. After performing a proper diagnosis, they found that my thermostat was actually working exactly as it should. There was nothing wrong with it, meaning I didn’t need the repair at all. What impressed me most was that they could have easily taken my money and replaced parts that didn’t need replacing. Unfortunately, some shops would have done exactly that. Instead, they were honest, took the time to properly diagnose the issue, and saved me from spending hundreds of dollars unnecessarily. Their pricing was also very reasonable. Other shops were quoting me close to $700 for the same repair, while they quoted around $424. Even better, they were honest enough to tell me I didn’t need the repair in the first place. Because of their honesty, professionalism, and knowledge, they have earned a customer for life. I’m moving to McHenry at the end of the month, but I will gladly drive back to Crystal Lake whenever I need work done on my vehicle. It’s hard to find people you can trust with your car and your hard-earned money. If you’re looking for a shop that is knowledgeable, honest, and genuinely looks out for its customers, I highly recommend them. My experience was excellent from start to finish.

I brought my Toyota in for service after multiple repair shops quoted me thousands of dollars to fix the issue. Carss Auto Service was able to do it for under $1,000—and they did an outstanding job! DO NOT COME HERE! They are dishonest, refuse to accept fault after they break things while working on a car. My car has been at that shop for almost three months. We are furious with the service here. The lack of communication is just disrespectful. They will over charge you and use crappy parts. My car ran before I took it here now it can’t even drive and they only made it unsafe for the road. They installed a radiator and broke the fan. Disconnected the PCV valve which caused the car not to be able to even run. Make claims about other shops being really bad and dishonest. Update: We got the car back with scratches on the driver door and back end and missing a bolt from the air box. I REPEAT NEVER BRING YOUR CAR HERE!!!

Megan possesses extensive knowledge and clearly communicates what is happening; it's evident that she genuinely cares and isn't just out to take your money. Doug did an excellent job diagnosing the issues with our 2020 Jeep and our 2015 Nissan Altima. The prices are fair, and they completed the work on time. While we hope not to need their services again soon, if any problems arise with our vehicles, we will definitely be reaching out to them.
