Matt is a legend!! I took my car to Fulton-Desplaines last week after the dealership wanted to charge me an arm and a leg for a control arm replacement. Matt correctly diagnosed the issue and had me out the door the same day for a fraction of what the dealership was trying to charge. Very straightforward and honest. Matt saved Memorial Day Weekend for my family! I will be back anytime my car has any issues. 5 stars.

I had a great experience here. My car had a flat tire. I was able to bring it in at 8 am and they called me with options within an hour and had my tire replaced by 10:30! Their pricing seemed very reasonable. Connor was very helpful! Thank you Fulton-Desplaines Garage!
View on GoogleHad a front wheel bearing go out on my way home to IN from dropping family off at the Airport. They had a good review on Google so decided to give them a shot. They got me quoted that afternoon and in the next morning. They were only working a half day due to being New Year Eve, my truck was fixed before their end of day. Great dealing with Matt and if I ever have automotive issues in Chicago, I will definitely be going back.
View on GoogleIf I could give zero stars I would. Brought my car in for a brake job because it's half a block away from my home and the reviews seemed good. I started driving my car on the Kennedy and heard a noise/felt vibration from the front right tire. I pulled over and saw that these morons only put THREE of my lug nuts back on my tire. More importantly, when I went to replace the two missing lugs, I noticed the three that they actually put on the tire weren't even tightened. They were loose enough for me to remove with my hands. My wheel could've literally come right off my car as I was driving. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE. EDIT: The manager's response is that he is "suspecting" that someone tried to steal my tire, which is why it was not secured. However, my car is kept in a locked private garage with 24 hr video surveillance and a door person watching the cameras. Not only would someone have to somehow gain entry to the garage, they'd have to go past about 50 cars and randomly select mine, which is parked between two large stone pillars, making it almost impossible to even try to remove a tire. Most importantly, he claims the only thing that saved my tire from being taken was the wheel lock...but if that's the case then why was my wheel lock lug loose as well? The answer is simple - nobody tried to take my tire. Whoever worked on my car simply forgot to put the lugs on. What I'm "suspecting" is that the manager here has zero accountability and will not take responsibility for placing me in such an unsafe situation. There was not attempted wheel theft. These guys simply didn't do their jobs. And they put me in legitimate danger. Instead of owning up to this, Matt tries to shift the blame in a smug tone. Bottom line is these guys screwed up and this could have been MUCH worse than it was. Maybe take a look in the mirror and do better. Again, I would not trust these people with your safety. Stay away.
View on GoogleI ended up at Fulton-Desplains because my car broke down nearby. Engine overheated. I checked Google Reviews for nearby shops and chose Matt based on his previous work on my vehicle make, how he professionally responds to reviews, and someone saying he had “Mid-Western Dad energy.” I called him and told him my engine was blown. I had my car towed there and got a call from him the next day. He said the oil filter housing needed replacing. My car spilled oil all over his shop when the engine started the next day. Usually it’s a simple fix but mine was completely broken and I drove it to the point of overheating, which caused a cascade of problems. We got that fixed, then it turned to a gasket was blown. There was a slim chance he would have noticed seaming how the symptoms look identical to the oil filter housing symptoms. We had a situation where an engine needed replacing. I didn’t have the money. He explained the value of a vehicle is how much you can sell it for vs how much you’d pay to replace a new one. For my case, I ultimately didn’t need the car. I got the car to take care of my sick pet. Otherwise, I use public transit. He gave me a few days to think about it and I decided to proceed with the rationale being the cash value of having to call an Uber in an emergency or the time value of trekking to rent a car. Throughout that process, I was grateful for how much time he spent talking through the decision with me. He also took time to answer eight questions I had before deciding to move on with the engine replacement. I needed time to raise the money and he was patient with that as well. Matt even ate the cost of the oil filter housing labor due to the unique circumstance. I couldn’t do the full quoted price so we got an engine with more miles on it with the idea being lower priced engine, higher miles on it. Although, we both understood we couldn’t go below a certain threshold. He found an engine with a metal oil filter housing and asked if I wanted to keep the part on there or use the plastic from the work he did on my old engine. The metal one will last longer but it’s used while the plastic one is prone to leaking but it’s brand new. I appreciated his recommendation. There was a power steering fluid leak that he fixed without labor. I very much appreciated that. It was a big fix but Matt and his team are real surgeons at Fulton-Desplains Garage. Someone said he’s got “Mid-Western Dad energy.” I see it more as a passionate mechanic that does work he’s passionate about.
