Sooo..angry. I went here on a recommendation after I limped home from a carpentry job in southern Il, with a burned transmission from an unnoticed leak. Joe seemed nice and did a rebuild for $4000. I asked about the 2 yr warranty that was stated on their sign. He said unfortunately it's only 1 yr now. He also mentioned how he was retiring, but his partner was taking over the business. After the repair, there was a shifting issue with the new one. They worked on it2 days later. Luckily a coworker who lives close was on the same job as me. The issue wasn't resolved. I brought it back. Losing a days wages. Was told to drive it a couple days to allow the new part to calibrate with the onboard computer. I called and talked to Anthony because it still had the shifting/slipping issue. I couldn't miss more work so I drive it a couple weeks until I could take a day off. I went back and learned that they sold the shop and the new owners were not honoring any past warranty issue. I am furious. Warranty?? It never ran right in the first place and I'm out 4G. Thanks for correcting me that the warranty is only 1 yr not 2. Nowing there be no warranty at all. Joe Russo...all those great reviews (I read them all before going there) and your final(?) sale was deceptive. Nowing you were moving on. You should be ashamed giving Italian Americans a bad name. I'm a very dissapointed, $4000 poorer customer. Walter Salomone

UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2025: Joe Russo IS NOT the owner and operator of Continental Transmissions since August 2025. The new owner has obtained all clients, business name, phone number, etc. Joe took care and honored all promises to his clients prior. He even purposely put it in the selling contract that they would have to honor any warranties by previous work done on a client’s car. It is the new owner that is not honoring it; not the previous ownership. The new owner is now going against the sales contract as well as overcharging new and old clientele. THIS DOES NOT REFLECT ON JOE RUSSO — A MAN OF HONOR AND BUSINESS ETHICS. Joe Russo is the best man I know! Takes care of you and all your car needs for a reasonable price.

He tried to fix my good transmission and charge me $6000 but when I went to different mechanic it turned it was something completely different and I paid only $300

I brought my 2003 Honda Odyssey to Continental Transmission because the drive light was blinking. I had just bought the car and I was told that it needed a lot of work because it was sitting in the driveway without being driven. The car has a lot of corroded parts. The owner of the shop was very honest with me. It turned out that the car needs a new temperature sensor needed to be replaced. This had to be done very carefully because the old one was corroded and it could break off into the transmission while it was being removed. They were very careful with the part as they were removing it, and they fixed my car for a very reasonable price.I also want to add that, they diagnosed the problem very quickly after another transmission shop said they would have to keep the car for a few days and charge me $100.00 just to run the diagnostics test on it. I definitely recommend them for fixing transportation issues with cars. They were wonderful.

I was passing through on a trip and my transmission began having issues. I called Continental and Joe and his staff were able to check it out for me as soon as I pulled in. They diagnosed the issue and got me operational enough to get me to an area where I could have it towed back home. I appreciate their timely service, knowledge, and incredibly fair pricing.
