This place is awesome. I went into with concerns with my transmission. When I called to make a appointment Mike was so kind and professional got me right in. Once they tested drive and went through all the testing they informed me of my next steps. They fixed my transmission and now my truck is running like brand new. They didn't try to beat me with the prices. I highly recommend this family own business ( 40 years of service). The staff is nice and professional and the work is great. They explained the warranty throughout this process so you can make sure you stay on top of things and getting the service that you need. Thanks precision for your great service.

They charged us $3,000 for a shoddy job. About 2 weeks ago, my transmission went out, and we went to this shop for help. Biggest mistake. First off, they "fixed" my transmission and left it leaking. They also damaged my gear shift, so now I can no longer tell what gear my car is in. Mind you, these are directly related to their "repair". But this isn't the worst part. I was fed up with my issues with my transmission neutral safety shift, and I went to a different shop a few days ago to see what was up. That shop informed me that this "Precision Transmission" location damaged my neutral safety shift, left the transmission leaking, and ignored other issues. My car's rotors, break pads, wheel bearings, and control arms are severely damaged and need repair. This shop said NOTHING about it and allowed me to drive around with a ticking time bomb. At any point, my vehicle could have given out, and the mechanics couldn't even be bothered to say anything about it. Also, after bringing it back, they refused to fix my neutral safety shift THEY damaged. They also berated my grandma over the phone and kept interrupting her. These people are evil and took advantage of an elderly couple trying to care for their grandson. I sincerely pray that God talks to them. To charge us $3000, but still have issues, and then to talk down to my grandmother like she was an ant, is completely disgusting. But even THIS isn't the end. My keys no longer work like they did prior to this shop's fraudulent work, and my engine starts up slower than normal. Also, they left some wires near the transmission exposed. I called the Chevrolet dealership, and they confirmed the wires SHOULD NOT BE EXPOSED. This is problematic because they not only left the wires exposed to begin with, but they also deceived us to cover their mistakes, since they refuse to do anything about it. The dealership has confirmed this is abnormal, but the "precision transmission specialists" apparently think it is okay. The "manager" is a fraud, and this mechanic shop is too. I already am in the process of reporting this to the Better Business Bureau and the state attorney general's office (in the consumer protection dept Illinois has). Please heed my warnings and save yourself a down payment and maintain your safety by never trusting these amateurs with your car. They don't know what they're doing, and apparently their warranty doesn't cover their own mistakes. So let's recap: 1: They damaged my neutral safety shift 2: They left the transmission leaking 3: They said absolutely NOTHING about the dangerous conditions my car was in 4: Their "warranty" doesn't cover their destruction of my neutral safety, nor does it allow them to do anything about the exposed wires 5: They fabricated an obviously fake story about the exposed wires 6: They swindled $3,000 from us 7: Transmission still shows signs that it needs care Again, evil and fraud at its finest. EDIT: My transmission is slipping too. This just got revealed to me a month after their "work". Yet again, more proof not to trust these amateurs EDIT 2: I just got notice that they are trying to sue me for "defamation" and "slander", and I am forever banned from their business. Should tell you a lot when they are trying to sue dissent into submission. For anyone else, if you leave bad reviews detailing your experience, you may meet my fate. EDIT 3: I have attached their threat, and I will also clarify that their response to the Attorney General is nearly verbatim what they sent to the BBB, with minor changes. This company also banned another individual, due to that person's review, which you can find when going through their 1 star ratings. Any shop that does this to a reviewer should not be trusted EDIT 4: Transmission still leaking as of May 22, 2026.... seven months after their "job" EDIT 5: Going to need to get the shifter fixed because they refuse to do it. I also haven't gotten sued yet, so it appears they just wanted to threaten me to take this review down.

Great service. Kim and Mike were friendly and professional. Straight forward pricing and a very thorough explanation of the diagnosis and work. They were honest about what they did and didn't do, they truly are specialists.

A year ago my transmission went out on my work truck. I did my research and went to precision trans specialist that was the best decision I could have made not only did i get the transmission rebuilt but i got it with upgraded parts. They provide a 12 month warranty and they are true to it! Absolutely great mechanic shop. I will always recommend my people to go here. Thank you Kim and Mike for getting my truck back on the road!
