Honestly I feel conflicted writing this review because the people are very nice and I enjoy talking to and very professional. There policy and procedures don’t make sense. I got my car towed with a no start issue and I immediately was set up with an “advanced diagnostic” fee which is $225, I suppose I can understand since It’s technically an hour and half worth of labor. But months before I had my car inspected for an oil leak only for $90. Along side of that they figured out everything that was wrong with my car and what was good or soon needing replacement. What I am not happy about was that they “technically” figured out why my car wasn’t starting because my ignition distributor went out and they wanted around $850 to replace the entire unit. I was told even after replacement they might not fully fix the issue and there could be more. Also the diagnostic fee doesn’t get put with the $850 to replace the entire distributor so it would have been over $1000 and I was told it wasn’t a guarantee fix. So I declined the $1000 plus price and had it towed back to my house for a mobile mechanic to come look at it and find out it was the ICM inside the distributor and the part cost $60 at O’Reilly’s for my particular vehicle. I ended up paying two hundred dollars for “Technically” the right diagnosis for my car not starting but ended up not being able to figure out it was just a cheap internal part. A shop like this that has all the certifications with AAA and Napa Auto Parts should be able to figure out something like that along with the price to work with them. I just feel like I wasted my time and money with this shop this time around. I wish I could get my money back, I do feel conflicted because the people are great and helped me out before but after this I don’t think I’ll take my vehicle back.

I took a vehicle in for a pre-purchase inspection, which I usually do before buying a used vehicle with some question marks. A cost that is completely on me, the buyer, that will be lost if I do not purchase the vehicle. I like to use a 3rd party mechanic to help with negotiations as well as ensure I do not buy a lemon. Of all the times I have done this, there has been no better report and transparency than that delivered by Heritage Auto. The report, a rarity in and of itself, complete with photographs and explanations of each item and system was the most thorough transfer of information I have ever seen at the same price point as other mechanic shops who might only give you a couple minute verbal transfer of information. The communication with the shop, and driver service to and from was top notch. And after understanding the mechanical components that will need to be inspected further, kept an eye on, or requiring immediate attention was so easily laid out, I felt as though I had known this vehicle for the last year not the partial day that I had looked at it. I ended up purchasing this vehicle, because I felt I understood the deficiencies enough to mitigate my risk thanks to Heritage Auto, but even if I hadn’t, this inspection would have been money well spent if I decided to go another direction. After purchasing this vehicle, I was determined to take it on a 1400 mile road trip to a family event that weekend. The items that were most dire of need to be repaired were immediately coordinated after quotes were generated, and Heritage fulfilled these items in time for my trip. As an added bonus, the ENTIRE cost of the pre-purchase inspection was credited to me for the repairs as a discount. The vehicle performed as I had hoped. I cannot recommend this shop enough, despite living in Boise while they are located in Caldwell.

Even though no issues could be found with my vehicle, the staff at Heritage explained to me what my options would be depending on if anything was found. They discussed possible pricing and avenues that would need to be taken should any issues arise. They are extremely communicative and helpful.

Rory was absolutely amazing along with the technician who inspected my vehicle. The level of detail with photo, video, and descriptions for my online inspection file were awesome. Will definitely continue bringing my issues to them haha.

This shop is AMAZING to work with. Rory especially, was so patient and kind throughout the process of having my vehicle diagnosed, communicating with the dealership who had to pay and approve repairs, and communicating with me where we were in the process. I know my situation was a headache to deal with, quite a waiting game as well, and everyone I spoke with was still so kind a professional. The service I got here has made me want to return to them in the future for all of my maintenance and repairs.
