I dropped my car off on Monday, 3/23/26, after being rear ended. When I received the estimate, I was told the repair would take around five days. That Friday, I called to check in and was told everything was going great, that they just needed a few more days, and that everything was still in line with the estimate. I specifically asked whether they expected the car to be ready by the following Wednesday or Thursday, and I was told, “At the absolute latest.” I was completely fine with a few extra days. On that following Wednesday, I called again for an update and was told the car was still being worked on and that they would call me back shortly with an updated timetable. I never received a call back and didn’t realize that until after they had closed for the day. I left a message that was returned Thursday morning. At that point, I was told there was no estimated timetable for return and that it would not be ready by the weekend. I was once again told that everything was in line with the estimate. We then entered week three with still no updates, so I called on Tuesday. I was told they were waiting on a part they hoped would arrive Wednesday and that the car was completely put back together, needing only a sensor for the liftgate. I was told once the part arrived, it should be a quick turnaround. I called again on Wednesday to see if the part had arrived. It had, but I was told they would not be getting to it that day and that they still needed to reinstall the liftgate—so apparently it was not completely put back together. I was told to call again on Thursday for a better idea of timing. When I called Thursday, I was told it was almost done, but they needed epoxy to set before releasing the vehicle, which takes about 24 hours. I was finally able to pick up my car on Friday afternoon. What was supposed to be a one week project took three weeks. I did not have a rental car during this time. Olson’s did offer to set one up for me, but I never heard anything further, so I do not know whether that was an insurance issue or if no action was taken. After all of this, the final invoice came in ~$800 more than the initial estimate. Iowa law requires prior authorization before completing repairs if the total will exceed the estimate by more than 10%, which this was. I never received any calls regarding authorization. While the overage was only about $150 beyond the 10% threshold, I simply wanted the situation to be over and decided to just pay. The quality of the work itself looks good, but the experience and lack of communication made this a terrible experience overall. I would not recommend Olson’s to anyone.

I will always take my vehicles to this awesome place. Here are the top reasons why. The free estimate was completed in less than 15 minutes without an appointment. My mirror was replaced in less than 15 minutes, which was the estimated time of completion. I had them check replacing my taillight during my appointment and the estimate was over $500 less than the estimate from a different body shop. Friendly staff including Molly (the cute shop dog). 🙂

Fantastic service! Walk-in free estimate and they got me scheduled quickly. The work they did was great and a fraction of the price of what other estimates were. I’ll definitely go back here again!

I had an estimate from another shop I knew was reasonable. My door would only open part way, they popped it open further so it was easier to get in, this was while they were doing the estimate. For that reason I went with Olson's. Very pleased with the work, and the service and authenticity is a rarity these days!
