Sadly updating my review from 5 years ago - I’ve been going to Sam for years and appreciated his honesty in the past. He once advised me not to keep putting money into my old Toyota. But my recent experience was misleading and frustrating. I brought in my 2013 VW Tiguan to replace the alternator and serpentine belt. Sam quoted $1,493, including a $191 tensioner replacement. After my boyfriend (who knows cars but was out of town) asked if we could supply parts from AutoZone and just pay for labor, Sam agreed. He even called back later to say the tensioner wasn’t needed after all. When I picked up the car, it didn’t sound right. Sam blamed the noise on the aftermarket alternator and was dismissive. On my short drive home, the car started smoking and spraying oil from under the hood and underneath my car; an issue I didn’t bring it in for. Sam insisted I tow it back so he could take a look, claiming it wasn’t related to the original repair. He said he fixed the leak and repeatedly told me, “I hope you’re happy,” as if trying to pressure me into more gratitude—even though I had already thanked him multiple times. He claimed he test-drove it, but five minutes into my own drive home the next day, my car died in the middle of a busy intersection. I was charged additional labor and left in an unsafe situation with no help. Thankfully a tow truck pulled up to save me. If you’re not comfortable with customers providing parts, just be upfront. Like with my old Toyota, Sam should’ve told me the car wasn’t worth fixing. Instead, I paid him $555 dollars (not including the parts I purchased), got my car towed to his shop twice, had to pay $100 more to tow it home the second day he worked on it, only to end up with a car I can’t drive.

Sam did my oil change and tune up. One of the best experiences I've had at a mechanic. He even checked my brakes and told me how much longer they would last. I'll see you guys in 1 month for my brakes. Update Jan 2025 Sam is still here. I brought my 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander HEV in for its first oil change, and it was quick and affordable. Overall, it was a great experience

Sam is amazing!!! I was having problems with my transmission and the dealership was quoting me around $10k to fix it which was just not an option. My friend referred me to VAS auto repair who was able to get the job done for $4k in under a week!!! He kept me updated with texts and calls and was always available when I tried to reach him. Super reliable and kind service. I’m referring everyone I know to Sam now - he’s simply the best!!

Sam is honestly the most kind and honest mechanic I’ve met. I took my car in and he had it back to me completely fixed just a few hours later. My car is driving better then ever and I feel very safe while driving it now. What a relief! I was recommended to VAS Auto and I’m so glad I went! I highly recommended it!
