I've been going to this guy for 6 years, but this year will be the last. He asked me a series of question reguarding the car, and I told him about the car's ECU has been reset due to a part that was replaced. I told him that I did a hundred mile drive cycle but not sure if all system is clear and ready. Rather than checking with a scanner first, he went a head and proceeded with the actual test knowing it is a high possibility it will fail. Adter him running a test he then explains to me that they no longer do second tests for free, that I would have to pay for the smog job now and when my ECU is ready, the second one would cost me half the price or somewher in that area. My point is why didn't he tell me about this before plugging in my car, (Any proper business would tell you everything before hand.). He stated this after the fact. I felt cheated and the other thing is he could have ran a check with a scanner first before proceeding the actual smog check. I've never left anyone a bad review but I felt like people need to be aware of the fact that mechanics can pull a fast one on you, when ever they think they can.
