simple requests before running smog check, like clearing old prior memory codes with an Obd1 scanner - I was called a weirdo for asking. they will act like it’s a huge task and that they have no idea what I’m talking about as if I’m the first person on the planet to say this... If you have Obd1 don’t go here. they will fail you first rather than even try to help you pass or listen to simple reasonable requests. After wanting them to check for old Obd1 codes before running their smog test, they refused to even listen to my request, and then the mechanic went as far to call me a weirdo just because I’m telling them how to run a simple scan to make sure old errors have been removed. That’s not how you do good business, and the owner and their mechanic had no idea what they were talking about or what I was talking about. and to call anyone a Weirdo, that’s crazy. …. Look it up Viking. Learn about old memory codes on Obd1 tests. Just cuz you don’t want to do the work doesn’t give your mechanic the right to call me anything. That’s how you get 1 star reviews.

View on GoogleI came to Viking Auto Repair today (10/17/25) because I was at my wits end. My Toyota Camry’s horn was not functional because a few months ago, a Triple A tow technician had removed the fuse to get the horn to stop sounding due to a dying battery (he placed it in a storage spot within the fuse box). I had no idea which was which, and had taken it to the Toyota dealership in Cerritos where they wanted $269 regardless of the fact that it would not take long (I was happy to pay a quarter hour’s labor as I realize that’s the minimum, but $269 is excessive). I drove to Viking and the incredible owner was kind and looked at it right away even though he had full repair bays and another customer on the way (in addition to a full parking lot). He tested the horn fuse with a nearby 10amp fuse to ensure that was the correct type, and that the horn worked. He then found the spare 10 amp fuse and popped it into the correct slot. He refused to take any payment. This level of chivalry and kindness is missing in our communities most of the time now. I am so grateful for this man’s courtesy and kindness. You can bet that I’m bringing my car back for whatever it needs, because he more than earned my business today.
