Gilbert Motor Service

My recient visit visit was for oil change. I've been going to Gilbert Motors for years since my neighbor recommended him. I've never been disappointed. I have over 240,000 miles. He said he can keep it going for 500,000 I have a 2007 Honda CRV.

After experiencing issues with my dome lights not coming on consistently, keyless entry not working at times, and the EPC light came on a few times, I initially consulted my dealership during an 80k service. They claimed my battery was faulty and quoted me $500 for a replacement. However, when I had AAA test the battery, they found it to be healthy and declined a warranty replacement. I then called GMS and Darren was able to fit me in the very next day. For a fair price of $49, he tested and fully charged the battery, and my vehicle is now running perfectly. It is clear that Darren is knowledgeable and genuinely cares about the quality of their work. I appreciate their honesty and fair pricing, and I will not hesitate to bring my car back to Gilbert for future service.

I had noisy front brakes. Most repair shops love doing brake jobs, The job books for at least 2 hours and are not too difficult to do. Darren discovered the source of the noise was a gouge on my son’s 2004 Toyota Camry front brake rotor. The noise was annoying but not a safety issue. He told me I didn’t have to fix it. Tell me, what mechanic would pass up an opportunity to do a brake job? I could drive the car a few more months with the brakes in their present condition. The pads had a bit more material on them. I don’t live near Gilbert Motors, my Buddy does. He recommended Darren’s shop to me. I wanted the peace of mind of knowing the brakes on my son’s car were done properly and were sound free. I told Darren to do a complete brake job (front &back) with new front rotors, new pads, and shoes for rear. Not a cheap service, even if I DIY it. Darren charged me about 50% of what a dealership would charge. Probably less with current high prices. I am very satisfied with the work done, and confident that the work was done properly and with quality parts. Darren does not use bargain basement parts. He guarantees his work and certainly doesn’t want cars returning because of defective cheap parts. In my opinion, you are better off letting Darren service your car. He will tell you what needs servicing and how to avoid potential problems. He will honestly assess your car. Whether if it’s worth fixing, or if it’s not practical to repair it. Dealerships don’t have time or do not care about prolonging the life of your car. They only care about making service income. Manufacture recommended 10,000 mile oil changes are stupid. They are trying to reduce their expenses. Any knowledgeable mechanic knows a car needs a 5,000 mile or 6 month oil change. Check out YouTube and you find people with premature engine failures due to 10k oil changes. If you’re not a car nut like me, you may not realize, if you get work done on your car with cheap parts, you’re going to need more frequent service. If you wait until your car fails, you may have to use a mechanic you don’t know or a friend that may not really know what they’re doing. I own several Toyotas and Scions. If they are serviced correctly, they last for decades. Gilbert Motors is an excellent place to help you maintain your car while avoiding getting ripped off by Dealerships and dishonest mechanics. If you’re smart be proactive. Get your car serviced by someone who knows cars. Fix things before they fail. Use quality parts and fluids. Protect your investment in your car. Cars are way too expensive to buy and insure now. Our older cars without all the sensors and computer modules are actually more desirable now. They are reliable and cheaper to fix and insure. Your old car is worth more than you think. Especially, if it’s maintained.

Amazing place. Car broke down across the street and Darren helped me out fixing three different issues in one single day. I paid about a third of what he first quoted me because he found cheaper options. Reliable, good and honest service, would recommend.
