Costco Tire Service Center

Let me just say the whole experience of getting tired from Costco was incredibly inconvenient. I will forever use discount tire as I always have. First off ordering the tires off the app was difficult, I never had any options for what store they would get delivered to but sense my home store on the app is buckey I assumed it would be going to the tire center in Buckeye. Somehow they ended up in Tempe. The person I made my appointment with scheduled the wrong time I asked for 11:00 AM, they told me I missed it and it was at 10:00 no big deal they take walk ins. No communication on when my car was done, they left me car unlocked I had cash sitting in it almost 200 dollars worth. Still there just don’t appreciate the incompetence to lock the car. No communication from them, didn’t go over warranty with me or anything. I had to find where they parked my car in a Costco parking lot, already a nightmare. These are what my brand new tires look like. These don’t look new at all other than the thread, it looks like someone else previously had these tires and curved them and somehow was allowed to bring them back and they got pawned on me. I lost a day of my life that I will never get back due to the Costco Tire Service Center located at 1445 West Elliot Road in Tempe, Arizona. I had ordered tires online and the website said it would take 10 – 14 days for my tires to be available. I placed the order in the evening, after Costco was closed, so I was surprised to be notified the next morning that my tires were ready to be installed. On the day I went to have the tires installed, I arrived at 9:30 a.m. and was told that it would take 1.5 – 2 hours and they would call me when it was done (by 11:30 a.m.). I used that time to do some shopping in the Costco Warehouse. I took my sweet time shopping since I had up to two hours to wait. I placed the non-perishable items in my cart and after 1.5 hours, I collected the perishable groceries I that wanted and made my way to the register. The time on my receipt was 11:05 a.m. Next, I visited the food court, expecting to receive a call from the tire center at any moment. As I slowly ate a hotdog, the call never came. One can only delay so much while eating a hotdog, so I returned to the tire center around noon with my shopping cart. I sat on the bench in the tire center lobby and made pleasant conversation with several other customers to occupy my time. These same customers arrived and left in the time I was there, so around 2:15 p.m., the continuously lengthy line of customers dwindled down to only one, so I got in line to ask why my tire installation is taking so long. The tire center employee told me that they hadn’t started yet. I expressed concern because my perishable groceries had already been sitting at room temperature for a long time. The employee offered to place my perishables in his refrigerator, which I accepted. As I was waiting, it occurred to me that the perishables had already been exposed to ambient air for over 3 hours. I did a Google search and the AI Overview said as a general rule, perishable food should not be left at temperatures between 40°F to 140°F for more than 2 hours (lobby temperature was 80°F). It continued by stating that perishable food should be discarded after exposure to >90°F for 1 hour. I walked over to the customer service desk in the warehouse and they agreed to replace my perishable items. At 4:00 p.m., I was notified that my vehicle was ready. I then returned my perishable items to the warehouse and unlike the tire center, they held true to their promise. The 2-hour tire installation took 6.5 hours, and put me on the road in heavy traffic which doubled my travel time to get home. Another area that needs improvement is the printer used by the tire center to print Member Final Invoice documents that they hand to customers. It produces heavy ghost images of what’s being printed that cover the entire right half of every page, making it difficult to read the relevant data. Although its obscured by the printer ghost images, the total price on the invoice shows the final cost was $81 less than the amount that was actually charged to my credit card. I absolutely will be following up on this discrepancy.

Took my car in at 4pm for a rotation and balance. It was done at about 5pm. But, they (Mark D) never called me telling me it was done, so I waited here for 3 hours for nothing. This is not the first time this has happened either.

Costco is a top-notch warehouse club. The tires are worth your membership. The people help out greatly, too. I had an emergency need for tires for my daughter's car. The normal tires for her vehicle were on national back order, with no estimate of when (or if ever) this would be resolved. The associate directed me to another retailer who would have the tires and gave me specific brands of the exact tire we needed -- not just for the car, but for her exact driving needs -- and showed that the cared about their customers. He could have sold me some expensive high-speed tires she would not have ever gotten any benefit from that would not last nearly as long. Instead, they sent me to a competitor. Great service Costco tires have a road hazard warranty, which comes free. You get free tire rotation every 6000 miles. They also fill their tires with nitrogen. That prolongs the tire life by keeping consistent tire pressure at greater temperature ranges. Members get free nitrogen tire fills with nitrogen at any Costco.

Overall good experience. Good pricing on 4 new tires, delivered to the store within 2 days. Scheduled an appt for 4pm and was told when arriving they were about about 90min behind schedule. When I got the car back there was the wheel lube ALL OVER my tires, found out from the manager the next day this is not normal and unacceptable. gave me an excuse to wash her though.
