Brake Masters #212

So I was in need of an oil change, like in a bad way. I took it in to the Casa Grande store and was dealt with in a very professional manner. Even though it was almost closing time, they still got me in. Even changed out a cabin filter for me. Super friendly and helpful. I will definitely be bringing you all my work!

I moved to Casa Grande 4 years ago and left behind a very trusted mechanic in Chandler. I have been looking for a good place to get my vehicles serviced and have found mixed results to date. I took my commuter car into Brake Masters about a month ago and was very pleased with their operation. I met the Store Manager, Mr. Sandoval and we had a nice talk about our shared interest in driving and maintaining older cars. Since meeting Rene, I have gone back and had my Avalon serviced and today I'm taking in my 20 year old SUV for an oil change.

I went in for a routine oil change and walked out with a massive headache. If you have an attention span longer than a fish, please read on. Along with the oil change, they talked me into a wheel alignment. No problem there. However, during the service, an inexperienced technician decided to perform a battery test, even though my battery had been working perfectly. The test allegedly came back with "low voltage," and they immediately quoted me nearly $400 ($373 plus disposal) to replace it. I respectfully declined, paid for the oil and alignment, and left. They brought my car up front and left it running. I didn't think much of it until I stopped to run an errand at a nearby Fry’s. After shopping, I came out to find my car completely dead upon start up. Thank God I keep a portable jump starter in my trunk. It’s incredibly suspicious that my car started perfectly before my appointment and perfectly for the technician, yet completely died the minute I left after they meddled with it. I can't help but wonder if their techs are commission-based and intentionally shorted it to ground to force a sale. The good news? I’m not a professional mechanic, but I went to AutoZone, spent $250 on a new battery, and replaced it myself. The car runs perfectly now. I’m not usually one to complain, but I will absolutely be calling management about this shady service.

After we had our 2017 Camry in for an oil change we noticed a low oil pressure symbol on our dash board. We took it to back to Break Master’s and they not only fixed the issue, they also fixed the oxidation on our headlights for free. No hassles, quick correction and they went above and beyond to satisfy their customer.

Senior citizens beware! We took our car to Brake Masters #212 to replace the bulbs in both headlights. We supplied the replacement bulbs, just needed them installed. We were given an estimate of $147, and it would take 2 hours because they had to remove the bumper. Remove the bumper? Strange, but ok. A competitor down the street quoted us $189, so naturally we chose the lesser of the 2 quotes; although we thought $147 was still a little high. We are senior citizens and my husband is unable to do the work himself, so we dropped the car off, and they would call us when ready. They didn't call. When we picked up our car, we were presented with a bill for over $263! We are seniors on a limited income, and being overcharged ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS is a big deal. Nothing was itemized on the bill. Line after line had 0's, which somehow totaled $246 plus tax. No indication of actual time spent on our car. Now, they claimed that they needed to remove the wheel wells (not the bumper) to get to the headlights. If this was going to result in a higher bill, they should've gotten our approval first. Again, we are senior citizens, very limited income, and we feel they took advantage of us. We are left with questions. Why did they misquote the job? Why didn't they itemize the charges? Why didn't they call us when they decided to overcharge us by ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS??? Did they overcharge for the labor because we didn't buy the materials from them? The manager refused to change the bill. We feel cheated and will caution all of our friends and neighbors not to trust BRAKE MASTERS. Senior citizens beware.
