Took my car here to diagnose a new sound it was making. They said it needed almost $3k in brake and other repairs. Got a second opinion from another shop, and turned out it only needed minor repair on the splash guard, less than $200. Brakes and everything else were completely fine. Glad I didn't blindly trust Mechanics Pride.
View on GoogleIn February 2025 I brought my 2002 Chevy Silverado 2500HD to Mechanics Pride South Hill because it was not running right. It had a rough idle, surging and was dying. They called me and told me that it had low compression on cylinder 1 and was going to need a new engine as well as many other repairs it needed. After quoting me a very high price, I declined and proceeded to pick up my truck later that day. When I went to pick up my truck, they again stated it would need a new engine, but when I asked what caused the low compression they stated that they did not know why. After taking matters into my own hands, I found amazing and consistent compression on all 8 cylinders of my engine and a faulty EGR valve that was causing all my problems. After replacing the EGR valve the truck ran flawlessly and hasn't had that problem since. I am so glad I didn't fall for a new engine! I would recommend staying away from Mechanics Pride as clearly they have no clue what they are doing. Thanks for nothing!

View on GoogleWinter then summer. Twice a year I visit Mechanics Pride for my snow tries changing. They have cheapest rate below 40$ in whole town. All the working staff is expert in there work and they check your car if any service is needed. Only negative part is you have to wait for weeks to get an appointment. But they help you if something urgent is needed.
