Chucks Auto Repair in Shoreline is the best repair shop I've used. I've brought both my Buick Encore and 2008 Chrysler Crossfire there for years because of their exceptional service. The service managers, Steve and Ryan, are honest and transparent about what's needed. While their rates aren't the cheapest, the quality is worth it. They only repair what's necessary, their diagnoses are accurate, and they stick to their estimates unless they find additional issues—in which case they always call first. They've gone above and beyond multiple times, including when I damaged my Crossfire's oil pan. Steve initially thought it would need dealer service, but Ryan sourced parts and completed the repair at a lower cost than another shop quoted. If you want quality repairs done right the first time with honest service, this is the place. thanks guys

Steve and his team were fantastic. I called for a pre-buy car inspection. He worked me in within an hour. They were thorough, efficient and excellent throughout the whole process. They helped me feel confident in my car purchase. Would absolutely recommend again and give 10 stars if I could.

I brought my 1979 Jeep CJ7 to Chuck's Auto Repair Shoreline to diagnose and repair my horn which stopped working after speaking with Rocco, the General Manager. Rocco assured me he has a mechanic with 50 plus years of experience working on the older vehicles named Mark that could take care of this problem. After I brought Jeep in I was subsequently provided with cost estimates by their Service Writer, Eric. To diagnose the horn problem would cost me $164.65. The second cost estimate provided was for the actual repair and this cost estimate totaled $345.12. Combined cost estimates totaled $509.77 to repair horn. I reluctantly approved the estimates given to me, as I believed their cost estimates appeared excessively high, but I needed my horn to work! When I asked Eric, the Service Writer what happens if the their "old school" mechanic finds the problem and repairs the horn in about 15 minutes? Eric immediately replied and said, oh, our mechanic is honest and we would not charge you more than for the time actually worked. I found this to not be true. The mechanic may, or may not be honest, and the same can be said of the service writers. Truth and honesty is a rare virtue seldom seen in business today. It's difficult, if not, seemingly impossible, to find a mechanic that works on older vehicles, and even harder to find transparency and honesty in the automotive repair industry when it comes to servicing cars, let alone an old car. These shops take advantage of customers with their unscrupulous practices. Moreover, I was told by Rocco, the General Manager, that their mechanic Mark has 50 plus years of experience working on the older vehicles. After giving me a $20.00 discount, I paid a total of $487.67 for a horn relay which was replaced and horn works again. I just couldn't shake off the high cost of this repair. When I teturned home, I priced a new horn relay online for a 1979 Jeep CJ7 starting as low as $8.37 to as high as $14.52. The cost of the new part (horn relay) was not specified in my cost estimates? This prompted me to do some further research because I surmised a horn relay was not necessarily a difficult job. This is what I researched: Diagnosing and replacing a horn relay on a 1979 Jeep CJ7 typically takes 30 minutes to 1 hour, assuming moderate electrical experience. Diagnosis involves testing the relay for clicks (using a 12V test light) and checking for continuity. The relay is often located under the dashboard or near the steering column, making replacement quick. Diagnosis (15-30 mins): Testing if the relay clicks when the steering wheel horn button is pressed. A 12V test light helps check for power and ground continuity. Replacement (15-30 mins): Replacing the relay, which usually involves unplugging the old unit and plugging in a new one, sometimes requiring a small screw driver or nut driver to remove it from its mounting point, often near the base of the steering column. Being troubled and feeling taken advantage of I called Rocco at Chuck's Auto Repair Shop as I wanted to discuss the cost of this horn repair. Eric told me Rocco was in another customer's vehicle right now but would have him call me right back. Eric then asked me if the horn still worked? I said, yes. Eric then started asking me other questions, and I just paused him and said Eric, it's not about any of these things. Just please have Rocco call me. As I have not heard back from Rocco after waiting quite some time, I posted this review. I will not be going back to this shop again unless the horn malfunctions because I was told it's covered under a 24-month warranty. I would not recommend taking your older vehicles to them as what should have been a straightforward repair for an experienced old vehicle mechanic, ended up costing an exorbitant amount. Not a right thing to do with any customer who entrusts and relies on a repair shop's integrity.

These guys have a real down-to-earth vibe and come off as honest and looking out for your best interest. But look behind the facade and you’ll discover some very slick salesmen with high margins to meet. Notice that they’ll rarely let you get out of their shop for under $2k, even if you’re just coming in for an oil change and have a car that’s up-to-date on service. After years of falling for their tricks I realized that they actually damaged my car because there was nothing wrong with it and then acted like they discovered a “new” sudden issue. After talking to other past clients of theirs, I found out this has happened to more than just myself. Beware of Chucks Auto.

DO NOT GO HERE! I took my car in for a brake inspection due to excessive squeaking. They did a full car inspection and stated that my brakes were perfectly fine and "still had a lot of life left in them". They did convince me to pay $700 to replace a timing belt. One week later, my brakes stopped working in the middle of me driving. Took it to a different auto shop, my brakes were scraping so bad that my brake lines were broken and the fluid leaked out, causing my brakes to stop working completely. I could have died. DO NOT GO HERE!
