This is my second time coming to Chau’s after a bad wreck and they did an amazing job as always! Car runs perfectly and looks just as good as new. I even referred a friend to visit Chau’s shop a few months ago after his wreck and he was very satisfied with their work as well. I've been bringing my treasured, older Subaru Forester to Chau's since 2023, they've updated the brakes, a power window motor, a low-mileage Japanese engine swap, a new coolant system, and updated the alternator. Their pricing is always fair. They have great communication standards and stay centered in consent culture, and offer all your options; Procure the part off another car that was totaled, or order an OEM part, etc. Barring the time it takes to diagnose the issue, offer you your options, and then procure the part, they have a consistently strong work ethic that exceeds my expectations for how long it should take. Rainier Beach and Skyway is lucky to have them of all the places they could choose to be! They are often very busy, and well trusted by many in the community, and easily 40% more affordable than a dealership.

I came here for a simple oil change in May 2025. After going home, I checked the dipstick and saw that the oil was overfilled beyond the maximum mark. I returned to the shop to politely ask for it to be corrected. Instead of taking responsibility, the owner became irritated and handed me tools to fix it myself — with no guidance. After I removed the extra oil on my own, he told me not to come back. I ended up having to extract 250–300ml (around 0.3 quarts) of excess oil — far more than a minor error. Yet the owner kept insisting he poured exactly 5 quarts, and claimed that his “20 years of experience” meant he couldn’t possibly be wrong. But the dipstick — and the fact that I had to remove that much oil — clearly proved otherwise. He yelled at me the whole time. I stayed respectful because of his age, but honestly, it wasn’t worth it. No one should be treated like that for simply asking a shop to take responsibility for its work. Worse, they never gave me a receipt. Experience is valuable — but refusing to accept basic facts or listen to customers isn’t professionalism, it’s ego. I would not recommend this place to anyone who values honest and respectful service.

Got into a wreck and two other shops gave me absurd prices to get it fixed. Finally checked out Chau’s and he offered to patch me up for nearly half the price as the others. The quality speaks for itself; the car looks and runs great. On top of that, Chau topped my oil and filled my washer fluid at no extra costs at all. A real honest shop that doesn’t charge you more than what’s actually needed. They even let me pick my car up before they opened shop just so I can drive to work on time. Best shop in town and i’ll definitely be coming back for all future repairs.

Got into an accident where the whole right side of my car was scratched & dented. Here's a picture of the front of the car. Brought in my car to Mr. Chau & Mr. Chau, the friendliest people ever. Mr. Chau was able to fix it in less than a week for a great price and was able to help me find a car to use in the meantime. After getting the car back, it was as if it was brand new (second picture)! What a great experience and I will always bring my car back there. Thank you to Dennis and his father for doing such a great job.
