Walker's Renton Subaru Service

I brought my Subaru in to have a dash cam installed, called them and confirmed they can install it. When I arrived for my scheduled appointment, the service department refused to do the work. The reason given was that since it isn't a Subaru-branded product, they didn’t want to be held liable if they made a mistake during the installation. It’s disappointing that a factory-authorized service center doesn't have the confidence to perform a standard electrical install on their own vehicles. If they aren't willing to stand behind their own labor, it makes me question the quality of service for other repairs here

We purchased our Subaru Forester at Walker's so I thought they would have our back when we needed a diagnostic inspection on the CVT. I already knew the CVT needed replacing because I took it to a non-Subaru 3rd party garage first for diagnosis and they confirmed full CVT failure. Subaru Corporate then informed me I needed an authorized Subaru dealer to confirm the CVT failure before beginning a warranty claim so we took it to Walker's. I told all this to the service advisor assigned to me and he promised they could/would confirm the CVT diagnosis with a single $200 diagnostic fee. Later that day he calls me to say Walker's needs to charge me another $570 to tear apart the transmission pan and inspect for excessive metal debris, bearing, belt, gear, and gasket damage. I asked him would this inspection finally confirm the CVT failure I had already confirmed with the independent garage. He could/would not say if this additional test would confirm the problem. I asked him to provide a Not to Exceed estimate for identifying the problem. Again he could/would not. At this point RED FLAGS were everywhere. So I called two other local Subaru dealerships. Both confirmed they could/would be able within 95% accuracy diagnose my CVT failure with a single $200 diagnostic test/fee. Additionally, they verified that when the CVT fails on a Subaru corporate replaces the entire CVT, not individual bearings, belts, gears, gaskets, etc. It is all or nothing, meaning any additional tests are meaningless and unnecessary once the CVT is diagnosed as failing. So I took it to one of the other dealerships and within a 30 minute test drive (something Walker's never offered or performed) they confirmed the CVT failure diagnosis allowing me to begin my warranty claim. Two Washington State laws protecting consumers against this type of deception are: 1. The Automotive Repair Act (RCW 46.71) 2. The Consumer Protection Act (RCW 19.86) I encourage anyone who had similar experiences with Walker's to file a complaint with the Washington State Attorney General's Office. Better yet, save yourself the hassle and stay clear of Walker's.

Horrible people. Brought our car in to fix due to tire lights going off and they apparently “fixed” it and changed the oil for over 1k. Drove it for a day and the lights came back. Took it back and they said there’s metal in the oil. (How is the related to break lights being off?) They then quote 2k to take our engine apart with no estimate on how much it will cost to fix it. Then another 2k to put it back together. They then told us it’s better to sell the car cause fixing it might cost 10-15k. Gave us a quote of 12k to take it off our hands. Doesn’t make sense. We took it to another shop and was quoted $2k to fix everything. All trust gone. Don’t come here.

Terrible mechanics and overpriced service. (Update, i'm doubling down on recommending never to take your vehicles here for service. They cracked my exhaust manifold while performing the repairs I went into detail about in my original review They replaced it, but it should have never happened in the first place. ) I brought my forester in for control arm bushing replacement and for the timing cover to be resealed. I took my car out for the first time since having this work done, and now there is a horrible valve tick coming from my engine. It's so bad I'm concerned about the state of my engine now and i have to drive 3 hours to get home. Unfortunately, they're closed today, so I can't bring this up with the manager. I would like to also add that the gouged me on the price. I have a friend who works at another dealership, and she straight up told me they bent me over backward in cost for the repairs done. Im livid. Do not bring your vehicles to this place for repairs. Oh, and this isn't the first time they messed up a repair on my vehicle. I should have gone somewhere else this time, but I didn't because they're close to me, and now I'm paying the price. Literally. Oh, they also broke my front license plate cover that was custom-made from a friend of mine. So they clearly don't care about customers' vehicles.

Not a friendly group of people to work with. Was quoted 1 price on the phone when I made my appt to get a new key FOB programmed. When I went in for the appt, the guy tried to tell me it was more than that. I already paid $350 for the new FOB. Then he went back to the desk while I was sitting there & asked who I talked with & proceeded to talk about what they should do and my attitude. I was charged the price I was quoted but was never asked OR told they were going to inspect my car too. I was never told the tech was having issues with the computer in their shop. It would be nice if the service desk people would let their customers know what is happening without having to ask. I didn't give permission for a car inspection. Will not be back.
