Sterling Automotive Service Center

WORST place!!! I went to them for them to check my brake fluid and to rotate my tires AND I ENDED UP WITH A BIG SCRATCH ON THE BACK. Worst of all is that they tried “covering” it up with cheap black paint. After telling them about that scratch they tried blaming it ON ME. Of course it it my car and i WILL be careful with it and I would not scratch it like that. They did NOT even give me any sort of money or refund. NEVER coming back to this place AGAIN!

So, I do all of my own work 99 times out of 100. I own an old Trans Am and love to work with my hands. Well this time, I got stuck while working on my wife's SUV. I had just replaced the timing chain and some other sensors which needed to get done and I afterwards I started getting an odd emissions code. I suspected a wiring problem and just couldn't get it right. In comes Sterling Automotive Service Center. Shawn was great and a true mechanic (not just a parts changer). As I suspected an electrical problem was the culprit, but the bad news was that GM didn't those individual connectors, plugs, and terminal but were only packaged as a Kit. The kit was about a thousand bucks! Shawn went right to work and was able to repair the damaged wires and connectors after ripping out the seats and the carpet for less than half the price! Any other place would have happily charged me for the part and went about their business. Very pleased! In addition, please don't judge a book by its cover, Sterling Automotive is in an industrial area and lived in, but in my experience, that's where the best mechanics often work! Excellent job!

On the recommendation of a neighbor, I took my Chevy Avalanche to Sterling Automotive. A mechanic at another shop had told me I needed to replace ball joints and that my transmission had problems. Turns out I only needed a universal joint. The mechanics checked it over thoroughly and were happy to put it back up on the lift to show me exactly what the problem was. They got me back on the road quickly and at a fair price. Sean and Peter were very easy to work with. I really appreciate their honesty.

Terrible place, I toke my car in for maintenance and he literally did nothing on my car. I received a phone call from them saying how they don’t need to do anything because of the oil change which is false regardless if I changed my oil that still doesn’t take away the fact that my car needs maintenance for the rest of it. Also reported an issue about my car making a noise. Was told to come in and drive with him to show him the noise. Waited an hour which was way past the time we discussed for me to come in and show him the issue and he still wasn’t available. So I left work early and have my car sit there for 4 hrs including a waste of Uber fees for this place to do nothing with my car and all I get is a “I’m sorry for the inconvenience we had another customer issue” like how is the other customer my problem?! This place is ridiculous.

Peter saved me last week. My car broke down as I was leaving work, and so I called the closest auto shop to me, which was Sterling Automotive Service Center. Peter literally came to the place where my car was, put in a temporary battery so that I could drive to the shop, then fixed my car (I needed a new alternator) overnight. I just got back from an 800-mile round trip journey. No issues, and my car runs well with the new alternator. Peter was fast and didn't overcharge me, plus he saved me money on towing fees by coming to help me. I am very grateful.
