Richard has rebuilt several marine 3.0, 5.0 and a 5.7’s in the past 6 to 8 months for me. I’ve been very pleased by his professionalism and great workmanship. He does what he says he will do and charges fair competitive prices. I will continue to use Richard’s Machine Shop.

Needed to have my 5.3 heads cleaned up, Richard gave me great pricing, I ended up with the heads cleaned up, resurfaced and rebuilt. Delivered as promised he offered quick turnaround and very easy to work with.

If you wwnt to waste your time and habe the worst experince ever at a shop come here. Worst experince not only did they never fixed my car but had to pay to tow it out there because it sat there. The battery went out and paid 300 to tow it out and tske it to another shop. Dont waste your time or money at this place worst experince ever.

Avoid This Machine Shop – You’ve Been Warned This machine shop is operated by Richard, and based on our experience, I would strongly caution anyone considering using his services. We brought him a 2.3L engine head three times, and each time we encountered issues. On the third visit, he claimed that all the valves were bent and handed them back to us tossed in a box. Suspecting something was off, we immediately took the head and valves to a different, reputable machine shop. They inspected the valves and confirmed that none were bent. They also found that the valve seating had been done incorrectly by Richard’s shop. After they corrected the issues, the head ran perfectly. Richard’s shop consistently did the bare minimum and deflected responsibility by blaming installation or the head gasket instead of acknowledging poor workmanship. This place is a nightmare. Use them at your own risk—but don’t say you weren’t warned.

I bought a 2003 zx6r from my closest friend, who had Richard's shop rebuild the motor. I bought the bike a month after the rebuild, during that time my friend put maybe 20 miles on the motor. Almost a full rebuild, from which I have the invoice detailing everything he "replaced". "All new valves, springs, retainers", yet when I checked them through the intake manifold, the backs of the valves had carbon build up that has been there for years. He supposedly did a full head refresh (decking the head, seat job, valves, springs, retainers, new thicker head gasket), yet the head and jugs below has very old oil all over, and the exposed parts of the "new" head gasket are dirty and corroded. In what world does a machine shop rebuild a motor and not industrial clean it beforehand??? There's also coolant pooling around the backs of the valves when closed. A freshly rebuilt head, gasket etc, and there's already a head gasket leak? I drained the oil, that's been in the motor for 20 miles, and there was bearing material in it. There should never be bearing material in the oil. If so, that means the bottom end is going out, or someone botched the clearances when swapping in new bearings. I'm not professional mechanic, but I've rebuilt enough of the 2003/2004 zx6r motors to know that Richard either absolutely did the shoddiest job possible, or he charged my friend for work he 100% didn't do. And when I called the shop, I couldn't reach Richard. I explained the situation, left my and number, and never got a call back. Still trying to reach Richard, but to be honest, I wouldn't let him touch this motor again with a ten foot pole. Beware of this shop. And Richard, I absolutely do have the invoice. Came with the bike. I'd post a picture of it in this review if Google would let me, so people can see that you clearly DO at least lead people to believe you work on bikes.
