Chip's Transmissions

Lester and Phil were great to work with and very knowledgeable. My family and I were on vacation when my transmission went out in my 16 Ram 2500 6.7l. They were very prompt and professional from the start. They walked me through each stage of the rebuild. They were also able to help inform me on a tune it had when I bought it. I had to fly back to get it and drove it back over 500 miles with is shifting better than ever. Highly recommend them.

Brought my truck in with a transmission issue. They diagnosed it quickly, and communicated well. They informed me that my vehicle requires some specialized equipment that they don't currently have. (I have an odd vehicle). They were honest upfront and chose not to work on my vehicle. They recommended another place to take it that would be able to work on my vehicle. Although they didn't choose to work on my vehicle, they explained to me why. They communicated well and didn't charge me anything for the diagnosis. I would recommend them based on how well they communicated and their honesty. If another one of my vehicles has a transmission issue, I will bring it here.

I’m a little behind on my reviews, but 2 years ago I had a problem with the clutch going out in my mustang. I carried it to a local transmission shop that basically kept giving me the run around. They had my car for over a month and never touched it. I went and got it and brought it over here to Chips transmission. Wow!!!! Wish I had came here first. Car was ready in a few days. They charged me 60% less than the other place quoted me. 2 years and 40K miles later it’s still running perfect. Just glides through the gears easily. They were kind, friendly and understanding. They were total professionals. They had heard rumors about the other place but they didn’t take advantage of the situation to talk trash about their competition. They were just concerned about getting my car right, and that they did. Honesty and integrity is something that’s becoming rare to find in the automotive repair industry. When you find someone like that you stick with them. I’m sorry it has taken so long for me to get around to posting this. I have an upcoming project I’m planning on with my car and this will definitely be where I go. Thanks and God bless!!

Called them about possibly replacing my transmission on my Ford Focus. They were so helpful and friendly. I'd take any of my vehicles here!

I took my 2005 Avalanche to chips last Thursday 11-21-24 for a rebuild, and they had it completed the following day 11-22-24. It came with a 100,000 mile warranty at their shop as well as a 12 month/ 12,000 mile warranty nationwide. When I got the call it was finished I asked Lester if I needed to take it easy on the transmission at all to let it break in, he said to just drive it normally and not to tow anything for a few hundred miles. It drove flawlessly the week I had it back. Granted, I only drove it a few days because I use a company vehicle for work. We went to my brothers house on Rutledge pike for Thanksgiving, we drove Asheville HWY on the way there- no issues. We drove the interstate on the way home to pigeon forge- no issues. Today, 11-29-24, while driving down Chapman Hwy heading to Boyd’s creek the transmission suddenly went out. Every gear went to what seemed like neutral, including reverse. I called AAA and they were quick to pick it up and send it back down to chips. I’m fully aware these kinds of things happen, and I’m fully confident Chips will get this issue corrected for me. I’m sure some customers would be very upset under these circumstances, but I’m very understanding. I look forward to driving my Avy again, Thank you Chips!
