Each Chevrolet Camaro year in this data has its own signature problem, which makes year-by-year shopping unusually informative. The 2015 posts the highest total, 139 occurrences, and one issue towers over the rest: keys getting stuck in the ignition switch, with 71 reports — over half the year's file — plus 17 more general ignition switch complaints and 27 involving the radio and electrical system. Nearly everything reported about the 2015 is electrical, and most of it centers on the ignition. Campaign 19E064 applies to this year.

The 2010's 91 occurrences spread more evenly: insufficient headlight output (20 reports), engine timing chain failure (18, rated high severity), airbag system malfunction (17), and clutch failure (16). Timing chain history is the expensive question here — ask for records and listen to a cold start. Three campaigns are listed for this year, including 09V155 and 14V346.

The 2016 is the low-volume year at 52 occurrences, mostly transmission shifting complaints (14 reports, plus six describing shudder and slipping) and the first signs of a theme that blooms the following year: intermittent power steering assist failure (7) and steering wheel lockup (5). Campaign 16V084 applies. By 2017 (94 occurrences), power steering assist malfunction is the top complaint at 27 reports with six more outright failures, transmission shudder and hard shifts add 19, and — oddly specific but well-attested — windshield fogging accounts for 24 reports across two complaint clusters. The 2017 carries campaigns 19V086 and 25V175.

None of the four years logs a safety-severity problem in this data, which counts for something in a performance car. The buyer's map writes itself: on a 2015, work the ignition key repeatedly and check every electrical accessory; on a 2010, verify timing chain and clutch service; on a 2016 or 2017, evaluate shift quality and steering assist on a proper drive, and run the defroster hard.

These totals reflect owner-filed NHTSA complaints, not measured failure rates, and later years' smaller numbers partly reflect fewer years of accumulation. Any Camaro's actual condition — supported by service records, completed recall work, and a pre-purchase inspection — matters more than which year's complaint list is shortest.
