Albergo Allegria Hotel

We had a truly wonderful experience. We arrived very late at night without a reservation after an issue with our Airbnb, and we were welcomed with incredible kindness and flexibility. The hotel is charming, clean, and beautifully maintained, with a warm and cozy atmosphere. In the morning, they serve excellent coffee, which we really appreciated. The location is stunning, very close to the ski slopes in Windham and surrounded by beautiful scenery. The owners clearly care about what they do and go above and beyond to make guests feel comfortable. We will definitely come back every time we are in the area.

Our stay at Albergo Allegria was truly unforgettable. After a very stressful situation with another accommodation late at night, during a snowstorm, this was the only hotel that opened its doors to us and immediately helped us with two rooms, despite the very late hour. We will never forget that kindness. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful — charming, warm, and full of character. Finding this place felt like pure luck. What could have been a terrible night turned into something almost magical. The atmosphere under the snow made everything even more special. From the moment we walked in, we felt at home. Not just welcomed — but genuinely cared for, almost like being received by family. It is rare to meet people who clearly love what they do and who treat their guests with such humanity and dedication. We feel incredibly fortunate to have found this place, and what started as a misadventure became a wonderful memory thanks to them. Highly, highly recommended.

What can I say? The most charming place to stay in the area. Amazing location from Windham mountain and great places to eat within walking distance of the hotel. A river runs in the back of the hotel which is also beautiful. Clean, friendly service. And we forgot our portable speaker when we packed up and we alerted management and they sent it back to us in the mail! Above and beyond our expectations

I love this place. My boyfriend and I found it earlier this year in March of 2025. We stayed at an Airbnb and when we had to check out, we weren’t ready to go home. We decided to just drive around checking out options when someone at a little motel told us to check Albergo (because we had our dog and most places weren’t pet friendly). We drove over to Albergo and met Leslie who owns it with his wife Marianna. Marianna is the chef, and Leslie handles the front desk. He explained that the “carriage house” have the only rooms that are pet friendly. The rooms in the main historic house are not pet friendly. He let us choose between two rooms in the carriage house. They all have the same layout but they are uniquely decorated. They have a little mud room in the back with ski racks (downhill skiing nearby at Windham, Hunter and Bellayre, and you could go cross country skiing right out the back door). We had a great stay. The jacuzzi tubs are large enough for two and the bath salts they give you are really nice! The location is perfect. The Batavia Kill runs right behind the property and you can hear the water rushing over the rocks. You can easily walk to Higher Grounds for coffee, bagels and pastries. There’s a nice chop house next door called Prominence. There’s a really cool shop over by the pharmacy called Garden Heir- they have some nice durable garden tools as well as some really cool home decor and apparel. The Windham Path can be accessed by walking behind the pharmacy and it’s a beautiful loop. We heard all rave reviews about the breakfast but we never got to enjoy it because we chose instead to sleep in. One day, we saw quiches that had just come out of the oven. We bought the spinach/bacon and it was delicious! The owners really made us feel welcome. They showed us where to get ice if needed. The room also had a taller version hotel refrigerator. I honestly can’t think of a single thing that we didn’t like here. I don’t know why I would ever stay anywhere else (unless of course when looking for an Airbnb experience). In November I was following a storm that was initially supposed to be a snowstorm where I live in New Jersey but as it approached, forecasts shifted to mostly rain but still a moderate snowstorm up in the Catskills. I called Albergo, and Leslie said he had the same room available. When I asked him about payment he said we could handle that tomorrow morning. He remembered me and that really impressed me. Got there and I could immediately feel that snow was coming. Woke up to a winter wonderland! If you’re looking for a nice intimate place, this is it. The Wylder next door looks really nice on the website, but it has nothing compared to Albergo when it comes to hospitality. Even locals know the breakfast at Albergo is amazing. Leslie and Marianna put their hearts into their work and it shows! It’s a very special place.

We came here for breakfast with our two dogs and sat on the patio. The staff was so welcoming and it’s clearly a loving family run operation! We ordered the fluffy eggs, the waffle, and another egg dish with lots of delicious scalliony cheesiness. Everything was AMAZING!! The eggs lived up to their name and were insanely fluffy and delicious. The waffle was stand out !! The flavor was amazing and the texture was something I’ve literally never had before. The staff was soooo friendly and helpful. We loved it and highly recommend !!!
