Smith's Garage--Earl

Amazing experience! We broke down in town and they not only got our car in same day, fixed the next, but were beyond accommodating in helping us get to a hotel and making sure we were taken care of. I can't recommend this garage more!

Last year I needed help and was highly recommended to Smiths Garage. After contacting the garage within a day or 2 of having my truck towed there I was told they would try to get to it “soon” and that the owners son had recently died. Nearly 6 weeks later I called back and was told they would be looking at my car within 3 days. I was called back during that time and assured they’d be able to do the work even though they didn’t have much experience with what described by the person on the phone as a basic job. Two weeks later I was called back that they had basically ruined my cylinder head but told I’d be able to have “until the first snow falls to remove my vehicle” and assured “without any fees”. Being that it was early September, and knowing it snows late November, I wasn’t stressed out but tried getting another mechanic on it. I was able to get my friend to help me but he was backed up to and asked for some time. Within 3 weeks of my original deadline, I was repeatedly called by the garage asking when I’d be able to remove the vehicle and explained the situation that although I was giving 3 FULL months that I’m trying to get it moved within the next 2 weeks. I got a call back again the end of the next week telling me I “needed to have the vehicle moved” by the end of the NEXT week because they were “scheduled to have their driveway repaved before winter”. I verified I could get my friend to get the truck and called back within an hour to tell them we’d have that done by Friday. I was called back Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday asking about the vehicle being moved and restated what the plan was and on Friday my friend was able to pick up my vehicle. When he got there, he said that he was IMMEDIATELY accosted by the service staff for getting the vehicle gone OR ELSE! And that they had called the scrapyard to have it towed within the next 2 hours. My friend not only felt unsafe but tried to smooth things over with the guys there by offering to pay for there lunch which had just shown up at the same time. Not only was I NEVER told they were going to scrap my vehicle illegally, but I was never shown any aggression by the people on the phone before then. I had been recommended this garage by several people in town, but I will never EVER EVER give them ANY work, money, or recommendations to others. Also, their driveway has never been replaced during this time and I’m wondering if the owner suffered the loss of his son. This would be a despicable thing to lie about but I doubt their honesty and integrity after this ONE interaction with them. I gave them nothing but fairness and patience when they asked for it and was treated poorly in return. I would never go back. If I could rate them lower than 1 star, I would.

Only went in for an inspection, very fast service and very nice person

I was traveling across New York when some plastic on the bottom of my car started dragging. I called a couple shops and they were full but Earl very graciously gave my a time slot within the hour. When I got there they were super kind and welcoming and Earl spent the time explaining to me what they were doing and even advised me what to do and not even replace it bec he said it wasn’t necessary. All in all it was a great experience, I would highly recommend going there if ur in need of a mechanic.

Excellent shop! Got me in the same day and they were able to replace my tires and brake calipers for an extremely reasonable price (less than half of what midas quoted). Highly recommended! Fair pricing and vet owned business that does right by their customers
