I brought my 2006 Toyota Solara convertible (a very well-maintained car with only 60,780 miles on it upon leaving my keys to T.P. Brake and Muffler (a mistake I will never make again) to replace a tire damaged by a Utica pothole. What followed was an incredibly unprofessional and suspicious experience. I was told the car would be ready by lunch. When I called at 12:45, the staff seemed confused, asking what they should do since the tire couldn't be patched—even though we had already agreed that if it couldn't be fixed, they were to put a new tire on. When I finally called again at 2:00 PM, the guy who answered the phone told me "the keys were just handed back to me." When I arrived to pay, there was a short man in the lobby talking nonsense, whom I suspect was the one "handing back the keys." Now when I get back in the car I notice the seat is all the way forward and the seat mat I have to protect the weather beaten leather was thrown on the passenger seat. When I turned the car on I noticed the car was at 68,802 miles and I noticed the car wasn’t handling the same. I wasn’t even going to write a review until this morning when I was cleaning the car out, I was going to throw my new dozen of Callaway Chrome Soft golfballs in the trunk and throw the 2 sleeves in the box I have in my bag. When I opened the box in my trunk that I knew 110% had 2 sleeves in it I saw ONE and I became furious and said that’s it I have to do something about that completely unprofessional place they call T.P Brake and Muffler. I have only ever heard great things of this place but I guess when the Dad retired it went down the tubes. So my fellow Central New Yorkers do not just drive past this garage SPEED past this place!

I had a very frustrating and disappointing experience with TP Brake and Muffler. I initially called on Saturday, 5/2, and was told they couldn’t fit me in that day but advised me to bring my car in on Monday, 5/4 for an evaluation. On 5/4, I called ahead to confirm and was then told they were too busy and suggested I bring the car in on Tuesday, 5/5, drop off the keys early, and they would look at it first thing. Following their instructions, I dropped my keys off at 6:30 AM on 5/5, before they opened. After not hearing anything, I called at 2 PM and was told they still had not looked at my car but would be getting to it soon. By 3:30 PM, I arranged a ride to the shop, only to find that my car had not moved from the exact parking spot where I left it that morning. When I spoke with the manager, I was told they had gotten too busy and were still trying to get to it. What’s most frustrating is the lack of communication and transparency. No one called to inform me that they wouldn’t be able to look at my car that day, despite having it in their possession for hours. I lost an entire day without my vehicle based on their assurances. I would have appreciated honesty and a simple phone call so I could make other arrangements. Instead, the experience felt unprofessional and disrespectful of my time. I cannot recommend this shop based on how this situation was handled.
View on GoogleI was there yesterday to get my studded tires on the staff was unbelievably friendly. I will definitely go there again. I am not sure who the gentleman was that helped me but he truly is a godsend. Thank you so much.
View on GoogleWas recommended to TP brake and muffler by my own mechanic that was too busy to see me right away. Wait time was reasonable. Price was fair. Job was done right. I was in a jam and these guys really came thru for me. Highly recommended!
View on GoogleI could write an entire Shakespearean sonnet dedicated to this place. Nobody will ever touch my fragile 2011 Jeep liberty but them. They were easy to communicate with, fair price, great work, and quick! If you’re looking for a sign this is it, choose TP.
