RC Sales and Service

On 04/20/2024 while delivering mail for the USPS, my daughter ran off the road and hit her head requiring transport to Wilson Hospital via ambulance. I was able to contact the NYSP Trooper on the scene and requested to speak with the tow truck driver. I spoke with Ralph and advised him I would like my daughters vehicle towed back to the Post office to avoid the astronomical "daily storage fees". Ralph was very accommodating and advised me that would be no issue. It was at this point Ralph went from accommodating to pariah. I asked Ralph how much the tow bill would be and he informed me $561.60. I then asked Ralph how far the tow would be back to the post office and he advised me 3 miles. THREE MILES! I asked Ralph how he justified that amount for a 3 mile tow and he explained to me that because it was an "emergency" tow (called and probably contracted by the police department) he explained the break down to me. He advised the tow was almost $200 and the rest of the charge was a "retrieval" fee. The vehicle was approximately 5 feet off the road. It was at this point I let Ralph know that his charge was basically extortion. I asked who I could contact at R C Sales to discuss the almost $600 tow for 3 miles. That is when I learned Ralph was the owner, and in my opinion, an awful business man. I asked him, because the distance was only 3 miles, would he take $300 and Ralph, being the pariah he his told me to basically pound salt. In yet ANOTHER attempt by Ralph to justify this charge, he told me to contact 5 tow truck garages, get 5 written estimates on their company letterhead for "Emergency" toys, submit them to him and then he would "talk". Again, I understand how this works. Just because the law allows for these exaggerated and inflated charges for these "emergency" tows by these outfits, it certainly doesn't excuse Ralph for charging a tow fee (for 3 miles) and a retrieval fee (for 5 feet off the road) and additional "service" fees (for god know what) totaling $561.60, at least I didn't allow Ralph to assess his astronomical "daily storage" fees. Now, I know Ralph does business in a small town and has a lot of "friends" on this page so I will expect a lot of these "friends" will defend Ralph. So, with all this said, me, my daughter and my bank account would like to thank Ralph for his stand up service to the community!

Charged my dad $550 to tow my vehicle 3 miles. Absolute joke of a "business".

This guy helped me out in a jam, when no other towing companies (including AAA) would help me. Very nice guy, if you are in need of service, I recommend this place. He was very professional and also very careful with my car.

USE THIS SERVICE! I had an emergency last night where my stick shift was stuck, and disconnected from its place. I called Ralph, and he was there in less than 10 minutes, at 9:30pm. Instead of towing my car and taking my money, he got down on the ground and fixed it on the spot. I was able to drive home safely, thanks to him. He explained everything very well, and I appreciated his patience and thoroughness. He was kind enough to walk away without payment, so hopefully a good review will suffice! If you need a trustworthy person to take care of you in a dire situation, I recommend calling Ralph. Thank you Ralph!
