Called ahead to see how much a NYS inspection costs ($20) and made an appointment for 11/10/25 at 11am. My partner took our 2008 Hyundai to the appointment while I was at work. The man I talked to on the phone was the same guy that “helped” my partner at the shop. In the time is took for this guy to drive our car a few feet into the garage, he apparently noticed the back brakes and front tires needed work. He told my partner it wouldn’t pass inspection, and that they could start working on the car right away and it would cost $800!!?!?! He also said he doesn’t want to inspect the car because he knows it will fail and that would go down on our record! My partner left after mr employee kept asking him to call me about get the work done/ “tell her to call later so we can schedule the work” I wish I knew the name of this liar that “helped us”. First of all, it’s an old car so we knew it might not pass inspection, but we need the inspection failure extension documentation in case we get pulled over. Failing an inspection does not go on any record so idk why he would say that. We took the car somewhere else and it passed inspection so I know he was lying about the brakes and tires. But even if he wasn’t lying, in what world does 2 tires and brakes cost $800??? Hate to give a 1 star review on a business that seems to have a good reputation, but this man lied to us and tried to take advantage of us, I hope management deals with him.

Have worked with this business on several occasions, with several different vehicles. Monroe Brake & Motor is a highly respected business and I am honored to work with them. The Customer Service is Excellent and by far some of the best I've encountered. The owner is a consummate professional, highly knowledgeable in his field and very easy to communicate with. Superior attention to detail in all diagnosis and willing to explain in detail the needed repairs. Absolutely no surprises and the final invoices are always more than reasonable. Highly recommended to everyone I know.
