Northern Equipment

My partner took our car to get a NY inspection for the DMV after Monro attempted to hold passing the vehicle if it meant they could sell someone they saw as inexperienced a new set of brakes. Northern Equipment never made passing the DMV required inspection dependent upon a purchase, as Monro had. They stuck to the state requirements and did not attempt to upsell, break the vehicle, or otherwise push my partner into repairs they didn't need. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and addressed each concern that my disabled veteran partner brought up to them. Our vehicle passed the inspection within the same hour it was brought in. I have no clue if the owners or technicians every see these reviews. But, if any of you do, thank you. You made a very scary and very upsetting process much easier for our family and for my veteran.

As a single female I have been ripped off/lied to at various auto body shops. When I have asked questions at other places both locally and in the NYC/NJ area, the mechanics are deliberately vague. However, Mike who is the owner of Northern Equipment, is entirely clear and direct in his communication. He is HONEST and it is very obvious that he sincerely cares. He taught me a great deal about how to best take care of my vehicle in the long term. Such honesty and fairness is a hard thing to come by these days, and I am highly grateful for Mike and the services rendered.

I've known Mike Lewis for many years and appreciate his honesty and his help keeping my vehicles safe, efficient, and on the road. My wife and I have purchased three Dodge Caravans and a Jeep Liberty from Northern Equipment over the past 3 decades and have gotten many miles out of them with regular maintenance and service. (Our current minivan has 172,000+ miles on it.) Mike's mechanic, Justin, knows his stuff and is always accommodating. Northern Equipment can perform nearly all types of car repairs except tires. For that, they recommend Morgan's Auto Sales, County Road 28 in Lisbon, NY.

First appointment they weren't at the shop waited for 15 minute 2nd appointment waited for over 35 minutes third appointment waited 20 minutes fourth appointment I was yelled at by owner for dropping my vehicle off at 8 am as planned previously. I could keep going but there's way to much to post. After spending over 500 dollars on an oil change and an inspection to wich they couldn't clear the code..I was again told to bring it back at my leisure anytime on a specific date. Once that date came they lied again and changed what time they wanted to open . When I asked for receipt from mechanic he told me im ignorant and needed to talk to owner. After speaking with owner he offered me 100 dollars back for a censor they charged me 100 dollars for that I never got a receipt for. I told him I needed all receipts for labor and parts so I can bring truck elsewhere. Owner completely blew up stating he never wanted me in there again as if I was impatient or unreasonable lol terrible terrible people to do business with. Worst business experience of my life hands down. Crooks and liars.

This repair shop does great work, and affordable prices. I highly recommended.!
