Stringer's Body Shop

Ed Stringer and his crew do absolutely fantastic bodywork. I've had to take my car in twice for some work (retread on the highway tearing up the front end, and hitting a concrete parking bollard), and both times it has come back factory-immaculate! Ed's is the only shop my wife and I will take our cars now.

After hitting a deer on I-88, I brought my car over to Stringers Body Shop. They informed me that they were booking months out and promised they'd do the best they could to help me. They exceeded all of my expectations in the speed and quality of their work. They were able to fix my car and make it look brand new in less than three weeks. I highly recommend their shop.

My car was supposed to be returned in one week. That turned into 18 days. On Christmas Eve they called me at 10 am to tell me my car was done but they are closing at noon. “And we only take cash or check” I was at work at the time making it very inconvenient. When I picked up my car it smelled like over powering air freshener. The next day it smelt like a stale ashtray. The smell was so bad, it exacerbated an asthma flair ruining our Christmas plans. The next day Jamie told me they usually run an air purifier before returning the vehicles. Since they had mine so long they wanted to get it back to me. NYS allows two 15 minute breaks and lunch break. Nobody should have been smoking in or near my car during repairs. It took 24 hours of running an ozone generator, 3 hours of cleaning, and numerous air fresheners to get my car back to normal. Unacceptable

The shop was super nice at first and told me what I wanted to hear. When my truck was finally done after almost a month they didn’t do what we talked about at all. The insurance had some say in that but the shop never got ahold of me once when the truck was at the shop and they wouldn’t release the truck until they were paid from the insurance company even though it’s guaranteed payment. They “forgot” the cowl hood and put an oem hood back on my truck even after I showed them and talked about it multiple times when dropping the truck off. Then I had to go back once it was done due to the truck not being fully fixed and paint defects. Long story short if you have a truck and want a 6 month process to get your vehicle fixed avoid this shop.

I am from Orange County, New York and moved to Oneonta in 2012. The first time i needed body work living here was in December of 2017, and having not been from the area and was incredibly unsure of who I could trust to do this work. I also would like to point out I am incredibly particular about where I bring my business, I always take my time and try to scrutinize. Based on the reviews I took a chance on Stringers and will look no further. These people cover all the bases. Fair price, quality work, and warm service. My car was completed quicker than the estimate, for cheaper than it would have been anywhere else, and they were so pleasant and helpful along the way I was actually surprised by how friendly they were. In fact, my car had a cosmetic issue that was nothing related to why I brought it in and they did a patch job free of charge and it looks fantastic. And they did all of this the week between Christmas and New Years. Seriously, If you want to deal with someone who is going to care about you and your vehicle this is where everyone needs to go. You just do not find this level of care in a business anymore, and for that I award them the highest recommendation I can give.
