⚠️ Avoid – Payless Auto Repair Center (Staten Island) My 70-year-old mother brought her car here for what appeared to be a simple muffler bracket issue that was causing noise. The shop told her the entire muffler system had to be replaced and instructed her to pay cash, charging her $580. After the “repair,” the car was worse than before. Strong exhaust fumes were entering the cabin, making her light-headed, and the check engine light came on, which had never happened prior to their work. When I returned with her to address the issue, the mechanic never used any diagnostic equipment but immediately blamed an O2 sensor. He also told my mother he did not charge sales tax, yet the paperwork clearly shows tax was included. This experience was deceptive, fraudulent, and like a complete rip-off, especially toward an elderly customer. Instead of fixing the problem, the shop charged a large amount of cash and left the vehicle in a dangerous condition which it did not arrive in. Your response is completely false. The statements you made are deceptive and dishonest. Instead of taking responsibility, you are misrepresenting what actually happened. Because of this behavior, your business will be reported to the Better Business Bureau.

I stopped coming here after I began noticing little changes with my car starting to happen after I had already gotten it checked out. I bought new tires from them atleast 3x & the tires there suck, always something wrong with them. Then during winter one of my replaced tires they sold me kept getting a hole in it. I take it back just to get ANOTHER ruined tire which they pretended not to notice the hole inside the first time I took it to them. After replacing it they tried to charge me for the mistake they made and I said HELL NO! I was ready to drive on out that lot but the boss said it’s ok. The tiny little mechanic with the glasses hates his job, isn’t very useful & is real rude. They charge you for just driving past their lot. My bf hates this spot so I stopped going before they completely ruin my entire car. Avoid them

I should not have to wait for two hours or more for an empty shop to change brakes on my front two tires. Not to mention they didn’t even have the correct parts in the shop. Now I have to wait for their mechanic to come back from south beach to start the job. This is unacceptable!!

Called to get a price for an oil change and was told $40. I get there and am told $45. After the oil change is complete the man behind the counter says “we topped off your anti freeze”. I say thank you and then proceed to get charged $10 for the antifreeze I never asked for and was not notified about until after it was done. On top of the fact that I have a full container of anti freeze in my trunk that I paid $8.99 for less than a week ago. As a single mom I have to count every penny I spend and that extra $10 was not in my budget I feel taken advantage of. I really liked this place as I had been here before to get tires mounted but after that sneaky, greedy move they pulled I won’t ever return. $59.98 for a $45 oil change. Sickening.
