DLJ Auto Repair

I was looking forward to getting my Lexus worked on here after being referred to this place by another shop. I see they have a pretty good reputation, so I called to inquire about the exhaust work I needed done and was told the owner would call me back. David returned my call promptly, quoted me a reasonable price, and seemed generally earnest and knowledgeable. I told him I was waiting for parts and could follow up when they arrived this week, and he said “this will only take a couple hours, so don’t worry about it, come in any morning during the week and leave it with us.” Well, I showed up today and asked for him, and the female employee (who I believe is his wife) informed me that David wasn’t there and that I had to come back. When I told her about our arrangement that we’d discussed over the phone, she demanded to know if I’d made an appointment. I repeated that David had told me I didn’t need one and asked if she could get him on the phone to confirm. She flatly replied “no, he’s at a doctor’s appointment. Come back tomorrow.” I told her this was a waste of my time and a good way to lose business, and she shrugged and said “ok, sorry to hear.” This isn’t ok. If the shop owner is going to make explicit arrangements with customers who call in advance, only to have other employees turn them away when they show up as directed, then that’s a problem. I know everyone has a bad day and maybe that’s what I stumbled into when I showed up, but I’m very disappointed that a small business in my old neighborhood is running this way. If you’re going to lose an hour of your time dropping your car off here like I did, I wish you better luck than I had.

I brought my 1988 Chrysler Fifth Avenue in for inspection regarding a possible fluid leak this previous Tuesday, March 17. The quality of service provided at this shop is excellent. David the shop owner & manager is readily accessible for the customers & explains everything in a detailed manner. In my situation, he stated that there was some seepage from a transmission union connection which was then subsequently secured. Also, the courtesy shown by both he & his wife is commendable. I highly recommend without any reservation this auto repair service facility.

I’ve been coming to this tire shop for about 14 years, but unfortunately this will be the first time I take my business elsewhere. My experience this time was extremely disappointing. The service and communication were not the same as they used to be. Unless David is there, I would honestly recommend not wasting your time. It’s a shame because I used to trust this place for years. Finally found an honest and highly skilled mechanic in Brooklyn. The work on my car was completed quickly and the car was ready when promised. They even diagnosed a peculiar vibration without an additional charge and did not try to upsell unnecessary work. Very friendly and very knowledgeable with fair pricing. Cannot ask for anything better than this. Highly recommend.

This is the second time I brought in one of my vehicles for wheel balancing and alignments. I bought new tires for my Wrangler and my Accord, both from different national retailers. Both included balancing and I added an alignment both times. Well, I had to bring both vehicles back to be re-balanced and each time it was still out of balance in the highway and alignments were still off. I brought both vehicles to DLJ and they fixed the balancing and alignment after the first visit each time. David explained everything and the pricing was fair and honest. I am a satisfied customer and recommend this shop
