Dropped off my lawn mower on a Wednesday, wasn't told that the garage was on vacation the following week, until I called to find out if my machine was look at. Thats when I found out from the answering machine. When I went in 2 weeks later they said 300 plus dollar to replace the Carburetor. I was more then taken by that amount. I declined, and took the lawn mower home to replace it myself. The complete Carburetor with all gaskets cost $23.00 ans 2 screws later it was fixed. I would not recommend this business.

Great stuff. Came in for an inspection after a recommendation. In and out like a breeze. Very courteous, knew, or figured out whatever was needed, and very reasonable. I liked their shop as well. Very open, with nice lifts. A lot of parts and whatnot around, and while some might confuse that as clutter, it makes me think of a real and useful repair place.

*Why NOT to go to BERNICKER Service Center* Do not go to this dealer. They have unscrupulous business practices. I have had NYS emission inspections preformed by them in the past and their service is everything the prior reviews states. They are friendly and welcoming to customers. They are a small family run operation and the atmosphere of their shop is that of a top notch repair center without the cold impersonal feel of the big franchise outlets. That being said I am shocked and saddened by the trick bag they tried to put me in today. I came to them for an oil change for a 2010 Toyota Prius. I was quoted by Marie Bernicker (Mrs. B) a price of 75 to 80 dollars. I felt that because they took care of me in the past, why not send some business their way. I believe we should support our local businesses and they are very friendly. Mrs. B came out to the vehicle to take down some information. I told her that this was my first hybrid and could I show her something under the hood. She consented, and I showed her a reservoir that had a pink colour fluid called "Inverter Fluid". I checked this because the people on the Toyota Prius community forum post about it. It was low and I asked If they had this. She stated that they did and that they had experience working on hybrids. Mrs. B told me not to worry that her mechanic was going to check everything out under the hood. I would expect this as part of the service being that this was an oil change. I've never had an oil change at a shop and the mechanic not check the car out. When it came time to pick the vehicle up, I asked her how much did I owe the shop. Mrs. B said the total cost was 189.00. I was stunned. I asked how can this be when I was told the oil change would be 75 to 80 dollars. She then informed me that the oil change was 89 dollars and I had to pay for what she called a "General Check Over". A what I asked. She said that the mechanic checked all my fluids, checked the brake pads and noted that everything was ok. Mechanic stated that I should have brakes changed at my next oil change. Mrs. B told me that "I" asked her to have the mechanic to check out the car. I refuted that assertion. I asked if they had Inverter Fluid for a hybrid vehicle. She replied in the affirmative and told me not to worry that they work on hybrids and the mechanic will take care of everything. I did not ask for an inspection. I definitely would not accept one for 100.00 when that monies could be put to better use elsewhere. I asked her did he generate a report - something I could see that would include I guess a diagnostic of the health of my car. Mrs. B said no. Then what am I paying for - I could look at my own brake fluid, trans juice, wiper soup levels. What am I paying 100.00 dollars for? I informed her that I don't have 189 dollars for her not to mention the 4% surcharge they bill if you are paying with other than cash (their company policy). I told her I ask for an oil change and that is what I was prepared to pay for. Mrs. B asked me if I was paying in cash. I told her yes and she said she would settle for 158.39 (plus tax of course) for a total of 171.26. I informed her that I did not have that to give her. I gave her 120.00 which is 40 dollars more than I should have based on our agreement. I did not ask for an inspection. I was not going to pay more for a visual once over on my car that cost more than the oil change itself. Mrs. B said she could not do that. I told her then she could keep the car and I would be going to the Attorney General to file a complaint. She took the 120.00 and told me to "Get Out!" I kindly informed her that I was "Walking Out!" and taking my business elsewhere! Mrs. B claims that my Inverter fluid is ok and did not require replenishing. I know from my own visual inspection that it is low. Friendly - Yes. Sound workmanship -TBD. If you want a smile to your face while they are fishing your wallet out of your back pocket: Then Bernicker Auto is your place!

Bernicker Service Center is where I bring my small engine machines such as my snowblower, lawn mower and string trimmer for repair and maintenance. They pick up the larger machines and drop them off repaired within a week, which is excellent. I've also used Bernicker for maintenance and repair on my Honda, Suburb and Saab. They are very efficient, honest and easy to work with. Recommended.

For over a decade I have come to this business at the current and former location for services on my vehicles, lawn equipment, and generator. Consistently they have delivered a high quality of service, professionalism, providing a meticulous level of accountability of work performed in the receipts provided. Their services are not cheap and they may take longer than expected to complete the work but if you are someone who recognizes quality work done by a professional and appreciates attention to details you will see where your money was invested. I applaud their dedication to what appears to be preserving their extended family of employees since I have received the expertise of Pat and Mike over the years.
