🚨 WARNING: Ulster Automotive / Virgil Taylor AKA Dean Taylor 🚨 📍 Located next to Dunkin’ Donuts – Ellenville, NY I’m sharing this to warn others in our community about my experience with Ulster Automotive, run by Dean Taylor. What I believe happened to me was dishonest, manipulative, and potentially fraudulent. I brought my car in for a misfire issue — not overheating. Dean charged me $160 for a diagnosis, and while I was standing there, he did something that didn’t feel right: he put my car in reverse and pressed the gas and brake at the same time. After that, he told me my car was overheating and needed a new fan. I don’t know much about cars, so I trusted what he said. A few days later, he claimed I also needed a new radiator, said there was no coolant, and warned me not to drive it or I would blow the engine. I felt trapped and left the car there. A week later, I was hit with a $1,300 bill, and told the problem was fixed. He dropped the car off at my job — no receipt — but promised to bring one later (he never did). The car immediately started jerking badly — worse than before I brought it in. When I brought it back, he told me I now needed another $600 in parts. At this point, I took it to a trusted, reputable mechanic in the area, and here’s what I found out: ➡️ NO parts had been replaced except a cheap radiator off of Amazon ➡️ The car had NOT been overheating when I originally brought it in ➡️ The overheating was intentionally caused — likely by the gas/brake stunt Dean did, which I later researched and confirmed with my new mechanic I asked Dean for an itemized bill, and he gave excuse after excuse. When I finally told him I had a second opinion and proof that no work had been done, he got angry. He said he didn’t want to write a bill because of New York State taxes. I even offered to pay the taxes just to get documentation — and he still refused. When I told him I would contact the DMV and Attorney General, his response was disgusting and defamatory: He called me a drug addict,a liar, told me to KILL MYSELF and threatened to contact my employer with those lies. Let me be very clear: 🔹 I brought my car to him for a misfire, and I have text message proof of that. 🔹 My car was not overheating until he intentionally forced it to overheat. 🔹 I am a well-known and respected member of this community. I have never been accused of using drugs. These false accusations are not only offensive, they’re a clear attempt to intimidate me into staying silent. ✅ I will be contacting the New York DMV, the Attorney General, and any other relevant agencies. ✅ I am pursuing this to the full extent of the law. ✅ I am not the first person this has happened to — and if it happened to you too, please reach out to DMV fraud department Do NOT bring your vehicle to Ulster Automotive. Protect yourself, your wallet, and your reputation. #UlsterAutomotive #DeanTaylor #ConsumerWarning #MechanicScam #AutoFraud #HudsonValley #ProtectYourCommunity

I've had 3 different cars worked on at this shop. He's always busy and I've always been happy with the work performed. I plan to take my car there again today to get a new battery. I honestly don't know where these bad reviews come from.

AVOID SHOP AT ALL COSTS COMING FROM MASTER TECH WITH 11ASE INCLUDING EV. Unprofessional work. Had client come to me for a fix after they supposed fixed the problem. He then got wires a fuel pump to an injector fuse bypassing the fuel pump relay fuel pump fuse and fuel pump control module. He messed the guys bed up reinstalling and for a ground all they did was pinch the wire when putting bed back on. Now the fuel pump is continuously running yes the truck runs! But the pump is in constant recirculating creating air. Air in a closed tank constant adding create pressure which in turn and compress the tank or create very extreme unsafe issues. This could have caused injury or taken a life. OSHA will be called aswell as the better business bureau and will be seeking legal services against this shop.

Terrible. I strongly advise anyone thinking to go here to look into other options. I use to go here and had to go back multiple times for the same issue getting charged each time may i add. Car would come back with stains on the interior and the last time i took my vehicle here it came back with a dent on the back door. Going here will only lose you money and time please find somewhere else to take your vehicle!!!!!
