This shop has been a life saver more than once as i lived around the corner from them at the time. First encounter, simple oil change before a trip to see family. Very polite, friendly and professional and cheaper than any franchise lube shop. Really liked them and i was happy they were close. Shortly after needed and inspection and registration update. Truck needed sway bars, rusted off. Also needed tires. Most shops have their specialties, didnt know they could do my tires as well. Went to get the tires at a popular franchise location in amsterdam, had my appointment at e&j an hour later. While sitting at unnamed tire shop in amsterdam an employee comes to tell another young man he needs sway bars..... i started listening, wondering if they might be cheaper for a small jeep renegade than a gmc sierra. $1300 just for the sway bars. Guy was about to go open a line of credit and finance it, young college guy. I waited until the employee walked away and told him my next stop was at E&J in johnstown for the same thing. It was less than $150 parts and labor if i remember correctly. It was substantially cheaper either way, no question. In my second visit, i got a lesson from another shop about why you support your local businesses. Almost 10% of the cost they would charge for the same thing at a franchise business. The kid was so happy he didnt have to go into debt for something so simple. I direct everyone i hear speaking about car trouble to Eddy and his shop because i appreciate that any time i have a problem, they get me up and running without a hitch as soon as possible. I could have, but havent missed a single day of work thanks to these guys, and Destiny, she is the wonderful young lady that will greet you at the desk. I have not the greatest luck with anything really. 3 tire patch jobs in 2 years if that helps put things in perspective, so im there often to say the least. I really cannot say enough about this business. Im as comfortable in that shop as i am in my home at this point. These guys are mechanics. Not part changers, not code readers that do software updates only. They will salvage parts that arent bad to save you money IF they can in certain situations. They really know vehicles, new and old. Motorcycles, diesels, new bmw's and other known to be complicated cars. They do it all. Mike is the young man that does most of my work at this point. He does body work as well, he will probably be given my truck sometime soon for some new rockers as shes rusting. This young man takes takes the time to tell me anything i ask him and im a pain to say the least. He just patched my tire a couple hours ago, again. I cannot speak for any other mechanic shop in the area, because ive never had a reason to go anywhere else. Luckily, just as i start patronizing their shop, they do inspections now too so they are my one stop shop and i wouldnt have it any other way. Bottom line, you can trust these people to do right by you. In 2026, thats a commodity you cant put a price on. I wish i could take care of them better than i do but i try to show my appreciation any way i can afford at the time. Either way, this place is gold and im grateful im so close to them still. You can spend your money with these guys knowing they take pride in their reputation

I do not normally write reviews but this place deserves more than 5 stars. My son’s turbo went on his vehicle and another place quoted him 4,000 to repair!! I immediately asked E &J to have a second look at his vehicle and they confirmed it to be a bad turbo but I was able to repair it for almost a third what he was originally quoted! They did the repairs quickly and efficiently and I feel the pricing was very fair. This is my second time having repairs with him and both times, He showed me the problem and was very honest. It’s rare to find mechanics that care more about their customers than making a hefty profit! I highly recommend them. Give them a try, and you will not be disappointed. Very friendly and accommodating. Thanks again for great customer service!

Eddie and his crew are GREAT. They aren’t the shop to just say something is wrong and give you a quote. They show you exactly what you’re dealing with and explain the WHY of it. Then he showed us the parts the got replaced. A NO funny business mechanic . I was there for our other vehicle but I noticed my trucks engine light coming on and off. They pulled it right and even lifted it to make sure I was in a safe vehicle. it wasn’t 3 minutes later and the mechanic came in to show me all the front end work I had JUST had done at another shop was never properly tightened down. You could literally grab the bars and move them with your hands. No one likes hearing this or that is wrong with their vehicle but this shop makes sure its clients are SAFE and aware that they need to have something tended to before closing the hood. His prices are beyond fair for the level of service you get here . E&J will be the ONLY shop we use for our family and vehicle maintenance we need.

Been using these guys for a few years now. Always speedy and professional. Recently got my rear brakes and rotors replaced. I was there an hour and twenty minutes total for service. Everyone here is super relaxed and very professional. Will be using them again on the next service.
