I've been to Harris several times with mixed experiences but have never been disappointed with their prices and quality of work. It is a small business ran by a father and son duo. They might not make the first great impression but they are honest and know what they are doing which to me are the most important factors when it comes to trusting my vehicle with a mechanic. There are two main full-service garages in Geneseo and we had been taken our vehicles to one of them for years, tolerating their high prices. One day our van began making loud engine noises when idling and we were scheduled for an appointment a few days out. We couldn't wait so I decided to take our van to a couple places around town just to have a mechanic hear the engine noises and try to diagnose the issue. No one could. Somewhat hesitantly, I took the van to Harris'. Within seconds of hearing the noise the mechanic (the father) knew that it needed a new flywheel. This was a full-day job (see the various DYI YouTube videos) which was priced at a fair rate and it's been over a year since the work was done and our van has had no issues since then. Don't expect a nice welcoming sitting area at this place with a TV in the corner and hot coffee but if you want to pay fair prices and get excellent work done on your vehicles there's no better place in Geneseo than Harris'.

Called and confirmed an appointment two days out after explaining a noise when driving. I came in respectfully and explained the situation. The owner mumbled something, simply dismissing it and said he wouldn't work on it and told me 'people like me' would put him out of business. I'm bewildered and frustrated.
View on GoogleI want to start by saying I’m not one to ever post a negative review online, but my boyfriend (who is the nicest person ever) went in today and they were rude as hell about him getting an inspection on his car. Not only that, but they also told him they wouldn’t waste their time on him or his car. We were referred here by my sister who stated that they are really nice and honest, but we won’t ever go back after that kind of customer service. Apparently she had a much better experience somehow. If you don’t want to handle inspections, maybe you should take it off your list of services, not that I would recommend a single person goes here for a thing.
View on GoogleCame in for a simple inspection with no concerns or prior issues as I have gotten repairs in the last few months. A worker at Harris failed my inspection and gave me an estimate of $800+. I accepted the failed inspection but denied any repairs - choosing to take it to my town’s garage. That was when I was informed there were no issues with my vehicle and that Harris Service failed my inspection in order to charge me for superficial repairs. Being a student at SUNY Geneseo, this is the closest garage to the campus which makes it easy for them to prey on unsuspecting and/or broke students. Besides almost getting ripped off, I also had to risk a ticket for the failed inspection as I had to drive home the next day. I wouldn’t risk being a Harris customer on a slow day…
View on GoogleI am stranded 7 hours from home with a broken down car and Harris auto was recommended, when I called the representative was rude and unprofessional and did not even listen to me before telling me that just because I had car trouble didn’t mean he could fix it today. I never asked for it to be fit today and know I will have to fly home and come back for the car because parts will have to be procured for the repair. What a terrible experience! Shame on them!
