Sunoco Dix Hills Tire & Auto, Truck Repair

I have been visiting this repair shop for several years. I have consistently received service that has been reasonably priced. I have always work with Elmer, who is polite, and well spoken to explain why a service/repair is needed and are my options. The mechanic shop is very small, but it is clean and well kept. They are often busy with lots of costumers. They do they best to get my car in for service and to manage my expectations about how much time the repair/service will take. All in all, this has been a consistent place for my car maintenance.

Had four empty bars midway to work with the snow coming down heavy, and maps led me to this as the nearest gas station. I had always passed it; I don't live far. They're usual slightly more expensive, but that's expected because they're not far from the expressway; which makes them a good pinch station. It's full service and the attendant was great. He even cleaned my windows while the gas pumped. He accidentally dropped my card inside my car when giving it back and he seemed mortified. I laughed it off and he was very apologetic and laughed too. As far as I'm concerned, life happens 🤷🏿‍♀️ lol. This may not become my regular station but if you're in a pinch and not far, go, hopefully if nothing else, your experience is a pleasant one too.

Changed my rating from a 4 to a 1. This week they took my car hostage during inspection for a tire and alignment I didn't need. One tire was worn but they insisted on two being replaced and an alignment. They should have rotated and balanced with one new tire. Alignment was not necessary which you could tell by the even tread wear. This wound up costing me $300 more than it should have. They may have made more money off me today but they lost my business forever. Don't believe them when they tell you things. Ask to inspect it. Better yet. Look for a more reputable place.

Not honest. Charged me 50$ to rotate my tires back because during my inspection they found that someone rotated the tires and because they're 2 different sizes they can't be rotated. Of course they claimed they already moved them back so I couldn't see it or approve them to do the work. Funny thing is the only place other than the Mercedes dealership, that I purchased the car from to get an oil change here and there, was Gabriel tire and auto for the last inspection. They claim they didn't do it. Best part of this is that a few months later I received in the mail a postcard from Gabriel tire and auto telling me it was time for my tire rotation. Don't waste your time, they will lie and steal your money. Unprofessional, and a business with no integrity.

I was referred by my work friend and since it was down the road I decided to go. Such a difference from other mechanics. Friendly polite atmosphere! They explained everything that was wrong and even suggested other things I should definitely get fixed soon, but they didn't push or try to twist my arm into getting anything more than what I needed fixed. Prices I believe are very reasonable and they have coupons in the Pennysaver. Will refer to friends and family!
