Depew Small Engine Repair

I really like supporting local whenever I can. I have passed Depew Small Engine for years and years and figured I'd give Jamie and her team a try when I couldn't get my mower started in the spring (noting that it ran fine when I put it away, was run dry and gas had ethanol fuel stabilizer). I was told they would get to it in a week and sounded like a tuneup was all that was needed. $55. I called a week later and they couldn't find it. Called the next day and they said needed a part and wasn't in yet, but should have been. Called Fri and on the bench but guy called in sick. Sat called and couldn't give me an update but promised return calls that never came. Lots of excuses and promised return calls I never received. I always had to call. Poor communication. More than two and a half weeks later and it was ready. $200!!! I could have bought a new one for not much more. I would have not repaired an old mower. They should have provided an estimate if it was more than a tuneup. They said they cleaned the deck, sharpened blade and did put in some new parts (carb/key), but again I would have scraped it. Deck didn't look that clean and blade, who knows. I would not return. I wish them well but there are other local options I would prefer to patronize. Just my experience. If you go, get a written estimate and timeframe so you won't be shocked like I was. They also noted it had some hiccups, so it's not 100% either. But it does run now. Frustrating experience. UPDATE: After reflecting, in fairness, I added 1 star to my initial review. Despite not having a positive overall experience, the mower does run and sound much better than it did.

When I called to see why they haven't picked up my mower when they said they were going to, three times, the response was "I used to do this job with my daughter but now she's in heaven." Cool.

I was looking for someone to fix my daughter’s very large snowblower after not starting for 2 years. I spoke to a sweet lady who said local pickups were free! I was so happy since this snowblower isn’t something you can throw in your car. They came in a couple of days, picked up the machine and within a day or two all was good! We did one small issue thereafter, but no problem they took care of it right away! Very pleased and would recommend them and use them again if need be. Thanks for a great job! My daughter is so happy being able to clear her driveway again.

Called on 2 seperate occasions to have my mower picked up for service. Never got a call they were on there way, no showed both times.

customer service sucks, i called and asked how long it would take for them to look at my lawn mower they say 7-10 days, I drop it off the next day then they say 10-14 days. I call two weeks later and now they say 10-18 days yeah ok I'm picking my lawn mower up. customer service sucks. I understand that it's the time of season everyone needs the mowers fixed but you should all be on the same page there...not have three people tell me 3 different things! if you guys are that backed up, Hire some help! but the time I get my lawn mower it will be winter!
