If you want to save yourself time, money, and aggravation, read this review. I’ve owned multiple Mercedes, BMWs, and Porsches. Last year I acquired my dream car: 1996 Porsche 911 (993), Cabriolet, Carrera 4. I found a mechanic in Queens and supplied him with the oil and two oil filters for an oil change and I supplied him with a muffler that I wanted installed. I was charged an exorbitant amount for those two things to be done. A few months later, the check engine light came on and I took my car to another mechanic who couldn’t figure out what the problem was, but still charged me for running the diagnostic. I then spent months trying to find a good mechanic to go to and finally happened to learn about European Auto of Island Park. I spoke with George on the phone and explained what was going on. I took my car to his shop and he was able to find out what the check engine light was on for. I asked George what I owe him for running the diagnostic and finding the problem; he said I don’t owe him anything. Imagine my surprise when I learned that unlike the prior person I went to, George diagnosed the problem and didn’t even want to charge me! I then proceeded to have George do the actual repairs. He sent me text messages with videos to show me what was going on and he resolved all the issues. He quickly resolved everything and charged me a VERY reasonable amount for his services. Trust me when I tell you that guys like George don’t come around too often: an honest mechanic who is looking to build relationships and who puts himself in the customer’s shoes. Give him a chance, you won’t be disappointed. I’m leaving European Auto of Island Park 5 stars only because there isn’t an option to leave 10.

In 2021, I was in search of a specialist for my BMW F10 535i to diagnose a wheel bearing and hub issue. I was well aware at the time that dealership pricing can be unreasonable, especially after the economic impact of the pandemic. I googled searched a "BMW Mechanic" and European Auto was one of the closest in my area. I asked a few of my coworkers about this shop, and was given positive feedback and results. I decided to swing by and it's been history ever since. My F10 has been taken care of better than I can admit. I've gotten coilovers and sway bars installed, suspension components swapped out, gaskets replaced, basic maintenance, you name it, they do it all. And if they don't, they can point you to someone who can. German cars drive like a dream, however we need someone to keep it that way. Typically mechanics are focused on your wallet, but not building a relationship that can provide years of service. George and his team set the standard for how shops should operate. Don't think twice, give them a call!

Heard many good things about this shop before coming here. Today I had to have my water pump, a few coolant hoses swapped and an oil change done on my 2016 BMW 340i. I met George the owner of European auto, who gave me an appointment with a turn around time of one day and managed to work with my schedule of days I was available to drop the car off. Not only did they complete the job on time but George also reached out to me via phone call and explained to me I had another underlying issue related to coolant and shared a video as well. With my approval, they managed to get that replacement part and installed within the same day of my appointment. Will definitely continue to return for more work done on my car.

I’ve been servicing my cars with European Auto since 2018/2019 without any regrets. The owner George knows his way around European cars like the back of his hand. What I appreciate the most about European auto is if something doesn’t go right, they won’t stop working until they do. And if you know George, he’s gonna get it done and done right. He treats the cars like his own. So if you’re looking for a team that won’t run to you in circles and does great work definitely come to European Auto.

George and his team are the best, most knowledgeable, and honest people you can trust your car with. Honestly, this review has been a long time coming, and I’ve probably held off because I was gatekeeping and didn’t want others to know about this hidden gem but that’s just not fair and I’ve finally sat down to write this review. I’ve been going here for the last five years with my 2002 Mercedes that has the kitchen sink worth of problems. No mechanic has ever treated me with the respect and care European Auto has. I’ve been ripped off more times than I can count with this car when it was newer, especially as a female, and only in her golden years did I find this place by chance. George and his team treat you like family because they care. They won’t jam in a piece so the car works for several months to get you out of the shop. They’ll also tell you what’s worth it and what’s not. The prices are reasonable too, especially for the niche skill set of knowing German cars or European cars in general. Please understand though, if you come here, you need to have patience. George is BUSY and so is his team. They take a while because they care about doing it right. You are waiting because they’ll take the time you want them to take with your car. If you need fast service go to Jiffy Lube and keep it moving, if you care about your vehicle, trust the process.
