Repair in Baldwin is one of the most welcoming and honest shops I’ve been to. This was my second visit and I really appreciate that I’m acknowledged right away when I walk in. The front desk staff is very pleasant and the waiting area is clean and inviting, with complimentary snacks and beverages. I came in for an oil change and asked them to check my front brakes—after a reasonable wait they let me know the brakes did need to be replaced along with the rotors. What I appreciated most was the transparency: the woman walked me into the back and showed me exactly what was going on, including pointing out that I would need new tires soon. As a woman, that honesty and willingness to show me everything made me feel confident and informed. Pricing was fair for full synthetic + front brakes/rotors, and everything was clearly explained. Professional, friendly, and trustworthy—highly recommend!

I’ve supported this shop for years, but my last experience was the final straw. I asked for a simple oil change, and they never asked what type of oil I wanted. They charged me over $80 claiming it was full synthetic, yet put a sticker in my car telling me to come back in 3,000 miles. Full synthetic lasts 7,000–10,000 miles. Either they didn’t use it, or they charged me for something I didn’t get. I also paid for a passenger-side brake caliper replacement, and less than 10 minutes after leaving, my car rolled backward while in PARK. I caught it just in time before it hit another car. When I brought it right back, the mechanic took zero responsibility and told me he’s “not a transmission guy” and to call the police instead of fixing an issue that started the moment they worked on my car. A different shop later confirmed the truth: They left a component near the passenger wheel disconnected, and that’s exactly why the car rolled. It was a simple fix — but a dangerous mistake. I really tried to support this business, but the repeated dishonesty, careless work, and refusal to take accountability make it impossible to trust them. I won’t be returning, and others should be cautious.

Long Island Auto Repair is one of the best places to bring your vehicle hands down. I have been bringing my cars to JP and the guys for the past 5 years. These guys are extremely trustworthy. They go above and beyond each and every time I visit them. The service is excellent and the pricing is always unbeatable. By far the best shop on the island. I wouldn’t bring my car to any place else. They most definitely have my stamp of approval.

This was an emergency visit on a Sunday morning after car engine stalled on way to church. Apparently radiator hose came loose and car needed spark plugs. After discount as new customer and labor + parts, total came up to a little under $600. Not bad for a first time visit and shop that closes by 2pm.

Towed my car there after it didnt start and another shop kept putting parts in and nothing would change. The mechanic with the beard was very informative. He was forthcoming with all the information on my car, and upfront with all the prices that were needed to fix the car. After reluctantly (due to previous experiences elsewhere) putting in the fuel pump that he suggested my car starts runs and drives as promised and was exactly how much i was quoted.
