Independent Vehicle Service

Took me a bit of time but I wanted to do this right. I recently moved from DFW where Southwest Auto has been maintaing my cars since the 90s ( see my reviews if you are headed that way ). I asked Jon, the semi-retired owner, if he knew a place in Albuquerque like his place and straight away, he mentioned IVS. 2nd generation, family owned, super, super nice. Got to me Daniel and Rob on my first visit, top notch shop. I won't take any car I buy anywhere else. If you are not going here for your car maintainence, you are missing out.

Third time I have been to this facility. I find either using the website or calling and speaking to someone for appointments is super easy. Okay now to the details of my visits. First visit was back in 2024 for an issue with my AC. They did an ac service which unfortunately did not fix my issue but it was determined that I would need further diagnosis. My original thought was an AC compressor replacement. Second visit in 2025 was for a diagnostic for my AC and after several hours of testing and diagnosis it was determined that I needed a new compressor and some other items to go with it. The service advisor at the time gave me the options of what needed to be repaired/replaced along with and estimate. I approved the estimate and repairs. Within a few days there was a delay because of a part that needed to be replaced and it wasn’t in the original estimate. It happens. Next day after that part was ordered and installed the vehicle was ready. AC was blowing nicely and I needed it. Great experience and no run around like you hear a lot of repair shops do. I have no issues with that repair as of now and I hope that isn’t an issue in the future. Third visit, came in for a specific issue with the vehicle hesitation when driving. The service advisor, different person was very receptive and took lots of notes for the information passed along for the technician. I dropped my car off in the afternoon and by the next day early midday I received a call with the issue being resolved by my own error. Went to go pick up my vehicle and paid for my fee and home now. I would absolutely recommend this shop for Volvo and any other makes if you don’t want high pressure sales from the dealership. As well as having to call them repeatedly or often to get any information from the service advisor. Plus their prices are more affordable and I appreciate their integrity. This will be my place for repairs that I am unable to perform on my own. Thank you for the service and the honesty of your team.

great, knowledgeable, attentive service, and comprehensive, detailed, easy to follow/understand diagnostic report with numerous concise pictures associated with issues found. I dropped by late in the afternoon, late in the week, they fit me in, took care of me promptly. … over all a very satisfying experience

First I want to make sure to say they were nice and identified some issues. Although, they recommended we fix issues that we later found out were unnecessary. The prices were almost double what we got for quality Mercedes work elsewhere. The shop is also in a very sketchy area of town, the same block as a homeless shelter with some aggressive homeless people. They did refer us to a quality exhaust repair guy. We ended up having our vehicle worked on elsewhere.

I drive an old car and sometimes have trouble finding a good place to take for repairs. A neighbor recommended these guys to me and I am SO glad she did! Not only did they fix an ongoing problem that was getting serious, but their combination of friendliness, professionalism, and service has been truly outstanding. I feel well cared for and "at home" with IVS and highly recommend them to anyone.
