These folks over at Foreign Aide were incredible kind and complimentary when it came to my service! I was in and out with people I knew had the knowledge to service my German engineered, Turbo Powered Mini. Mechanically speaking, my 1974 VW Super Beetle was sadly on its way to the Great Salvage Yard in the Sky. It was DOA. For years, I’d heard Foreign Aide was one of the few remaining shops in ABQ that service vintage, air-cooled VW engines. They diagnosed my Bug and recommended what I needed to give it a fair shake at a second life: a complete 1600 engine rebuild, new brakes front disc & drum rear, brake hoses, wheel cylinders, new struts, new battery, new fuel lines, gas tank cleaning etc etc. It was daunting. But based on their good reputation & experience, I took the plunge ~ and I’m extremely happy I did! The owner Todd communicated clearly what I needed each step of the way. Jaclyn was beyond warm & helpful, answering all my questions and keeping me updated on the progress. They both made the process smooth & easy. I picked my Bug up from Foreign Aide last week, and I’m very pleased with all the work done. Good job, Wes and Erik! It drives great, purrs & chirps (like only a classic VW bug engine can), brakes when I want, and it loves when I play old school Zeppelin and Blue Oyster Cult. Still needs some cosmetic nips & tucks. But thanks to Foreign Aide, my Bug is ready for the next 51 years!

Amazing staff and customer care! My fiancée and I were traveling from Arizona to Texas in our Vanagon and started experiencing smokey exhaust and trouble accelerating. They were able to get us back on the road same day! I could tell that they were doing everything they could to help, which is why I felt the price was fair, especially for such a quick turn. Whole staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. Got some great recommendations about old town from the front desk team.

I’ll make this post honest, to the point and useful. Overview: Foreign aide helped me in a time of need even though they were swamped. My vehicle was in their hands for about 3 months not because it was a massive job but because they had their hands tied and we both did what we could to accommodate each other. They had integrated a new SAAS system that was supposed to make communication better but when you integrate a new tool you will have some bugs to iron out and it was poor timing on me when I was working with them as a client. I can’t give a fair score on that but I do know they have ironed their systems outside then. Two things to highlight here which is why I’m writing this post. this company has integrity. There was a mistake made on their part with something I had installed - when I called to inquire from another state they did everything they could to help me right away even talking to the new mechanic that found the issue. These people are very nice people. The Old school stand up kind type who do their best work regardless of what comes in their door. These guys helped me out in a time of need did the best they could and had integrity.

errrbody already know this is the spot for VW repairs.... the front and back of house teams are unmatched. good vibes alround. no BS. IDK the ownership structure per se but shoutout to Jacklyn for running a tight ship. She treats each person who comes in w kindness and takes the time of day to talk through and plan repairs (for those of us who can't just shell out for everything all at once)
