Dave is a genuinely decent guy who takes real pride in his work and reputation. We found him through reviews, and after several visits to Brakes Unlimited, he's earned every one of his 5 stars. Prompt, courteous, and well-priced. . As a woman, I've always been wary of being taken advantage of by someone who knows far more than I do — Dave has never been that guy. He's consistently patient and thorough in explaining exactly what he's doing and why, his quotes are fair, and he's never once given us conflicting information. In my experience, that kind of honesty and consistency is rare. . Brakes Unlimited has our business for the foreseeable future, and I'd encourage you to give them a try. I hate having to visit Dave because it means a car is acting up, but there's no mechanic I'd rather use in Albuquerque.

The owner was very helpful. Very honest. Did fast work. Worked on some things that needed to be worked on with no charge which is amazing. If I had to make any recommendations for people to get their brakes or their vehicle looked at I recommend this place hands down honest, hard worker. Very friendly and very reasonable with labor and prices

I'd like to express how grateful I am for Dave at Brakes Unlimited. He was so kind and understanding when my daughter needed someone with not only old car experience but Dad experience. My UNM student daughter took her 1999 corolla to a Jiffy Lube for an oil change and they up sold her a brake fluid flush. She started having issues very soon after that. She even took it back to Jiffy Lube (different location) and they said it was fine but was low on the brake fluid. They topped her off and she went on her way, still having issues. Then a few days later while driving to work, she came to an intersection and could not stop her car. By the grace of God she was able to swerve in the next lane and pull the Emergency brake. There was a Pep boys at this intersection and she pulled the car in there. They gave her an inspection and an estimate but they couldn't find the part they needed to repair what they said was damaged. I live in California and I am trying to deal with this situation and my daughter who now thinks her car is dead forever from all the way over here and I have zero knowledge of any businesses in Albquerque. So I do a quick Google search and Brakes Unlimited pops up. I don't even know where it's located in relation to the Pep Boys the car is at. But what I see on the search is, 25+ years experience and lots of good reviews. I called and spoke to Dave and he told me to have the car towed into his shop and he would do his best to figure out what can be done. He gave me piece of mind as well because he understood the parental heartache of not being physically there to help guide your child. Dave looked at the car and put it though all the tests and what he found was that, Jiffy Lube had closed the bleeder valve but had not tightened it and the second Jiffy Lube didn't catch either. Why Pep Boys didn't see it and said the entire hard line had to be replaced, we will never know. Dave could have gone off of what had already been diagnosed and charged us for it and we would never have known. But he didn't. He is truly an honest man with stand up morals. Brakes Unlimited doesn't just do brakes either! They do lots of other work too. Even though the shop is completely across town from the UNM campus, my daughter will be taking her car to Dave at Brakes Unlimited for anything it ever needs. She is going to drive that '99 until the wheels fall off! Thank you Dave.

Super nice guy, my dealership(fiesta vw) told me I needed new brake pads, and that they were almost worn through. He seemed confused by that given my car only had 45k miles on it. He took off the tires and recorded video of my brakes and the pads and they were only 80% worn and in great condition. Really honest nice guy, we need more people like him in the world!

Mechanic was friendly, seemed honest, & checked a few things on my car for me at no cost. I got front brake pads & rotors replaced and he seemed to do a good job. However, it was by far the most expensive job I’ve ever paid for an axle of pads & rotors, over $500 and the original quote (just for pads only) was way lower. I understand adding the rotors will increase the cost but I didn’t expect over $500. Usually my mechanic from out of town does an axle of pads and rotors for $400 or less. So just FYI.
