Mell's Tire - Chelsea

I normally don’t leave negative reviews, but I feel obligated to share this experience so other customers understand what they may deal with. Timeline of events: • 4/15/26 — I went to Mell’s Tires in Chelsea because of a flat tire. I called ahead with my tire size and paid about $100 for a replacement tire. AFTER paying, I was told my rim was supposedly too damaged and would need to be repaired/replaced for another $180. I was told the turnaround would only be about 24 hours once the rim came in. • Days later, after constantly following up myself, I was told the rim had arrived. When I showed up, I was then told the “junk guy accidentally took your rim.” • At that point, instead of taking responsibility, I was told I could try finding and paying for another rim myself and they would reimburse me later. I sent my VIN number, photos of the exact rim, and repeatedly tried cooperating to move the process along. • My messages were then left on read for days. I had to call the Lynn location myself because nobody from Chelsea was properly updating me. Every time I called, I had to completely re-explain the situation to another location because nobody seemed organized or informed. • By this point, my car was stuck on a donut tire for nearly TWO WEEKS. I was paying for Ubers/taxis just to get to work because driving long distances on a donut is unsafe. • Finally, after more follow-ups, I was told the rim was available. I first went to the Chelsea location, only to find out they were closing and had to drive AGAIN to the Everett location — the THIRD location involved in this situation. • When my wife arrived, the rim shown to us clearly was NOT a brand-new rim. You could visibly see dirt and wear inside the wheel. After all the delays, stress, lack of communication, and inconvenience, they still attempted to charge the full $180. The most frustrating part is the lack of accountability and communication throughout the entire process. Instead of acknowledging the seriousness of the inconvenience, I later received a text minimizing the situation saying they “only lost the rim for a few days,” despite the fact that I had been without proper use of my vehicle for almost two weeks. Mistakes happen in business. What matters is how they are handled. If a restaurant makes you wait six hours for a burger, most people would not expect to still pay full price without some effort to make the situation right. I’m posting screenshots and timelines so customers can judge the situation for themselves. I tried being patient and reasonable throughout the process, but this entire experience caused unnecessary stress, transportation expenses, lost time, and poor communication from start to finish.

Great vibes and price! Towed in my mini with an absolutely shredded tire - only gave them a 5min notice and I was out of there within 30min. Deff coming back for all my car services!

I came in right before closing, and they were able to quickly plug my tire. I was in and out in 15 minutes. Prices are also very fair.
