I needed an inspection on a used car. Renee was extremely helpful in finding me a spot within the day. The technician gave me a call and explained to me the details of what he found out and also fixed a small problem without charging me extra! When I got there to pick up my car everything was ready to go. Pleasant great experience!

They take the time to explain what is wrong and how they will fix it, often providing diagnosis and service the same day when possible. I have only interacted with Renee and Russ, but they are both very friendly and approachable. They are truly people you can trust. I highly recommend Carlton Auto.

No upselling, no pressure, just straight answers and quality repairs you can trust. If you have lost faith in customer service, call Carlton Auto before giving up on humanity as a whole. They will restore it. From the first conversation to the final result, you feel respected and taken care of. It is rare to find a shop that combines skill, integrity, and genuinely good people, but Carlton Auto does exactly that. Highly recommend.
View on GoogleThe service that Carlton Auto Repair provides is excellent. They are fair, honest and explain things clearly. In December 2025 we sold our our 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe with 105,000 miles to our daughter and son-in-law. Late last week the vehicle developed a oil leak. My son-in-law took the vehicle to a "franchise quick lube type dealer" on Main St. in Wheaton. They quoted well north of $3,000.00 for a repair. Having no confidence in the franchise place we brought the vehicle to Carlton. They examined the oil leak and confirmed that it was severe and near the transmission which would have to be removed along with perhaps other major components. Rus, at Carlton said the severity of the oil leak problem and scope of work required was beyond what they could handle. He recommended the Hyundai dealer, the Santa Fe was towed there and we await their estimate. Personal comment: We moved to Wheaton in 1978. Our previous trusted car mechanic shop of many years in downtown Wheaton was sold to a holding company a few years ago, they kept the shop name but their quality went down and their prices ridiculous. Carlton Auto in my opinion is a great repair shop. Very knowledgeable, honest with fair pricing. Emphasis on HONEST. In 7 plus decades I've learned that I can't afford the cheapest price in car repairs, kids shoes, or home repairs. Every time I've been wooed by a cheap price it always wound up costing more in the future. Just my opinion but save yourself time and energy and go to Carlton with your car repair needs. They are to be trusted.
