He gave me a quote of $1000 to replace a timing chain. He had my car for 12 days. When he finally called he said it was $1968.00. I was Shocked and said why didn't you call me when you seen you were going to go over the quote by $1000 more. All he said was, it cost more for your parts. So since I'm on SSI disability he was willing to accept $1650.00 cash only. I literally had to scrape and empty piggy banks to generate $1650.50. Shortly after that I started experiencing other problems. I call Gary about it and he said I remember you. You're the guy who was crying over the $1968.00. I explained I wasn't crying but more upset that his final price was $1000 higher than his quote and he should have called me. All he did was grunt.... so i paid him and left. Long story short. I just picked up my vehicle from a different reliable honest shoppe who informed me that Gary didn't do exactly what he charged me for. Gary said he changed the whole Timing chain assembly only to find out it was a lie. He only changed the chain and two brackets and the brackets he replaced. Broke and went into the engine defecting and ruining the Oil pump. Long story short. $2800 later the new mechanic not only replaced the oil pump but also had to replace the timing chain again because Gary's didn't last 6 months. Beware of Gary Lietz automotive in villa Park. So I'm glad I didn't Pay him $1968.00 but still got Stiffed out of $1650.00 for an insufficient repair. He's also not a very sociable person. While talking to him I was being friendly but all he did was Grunt and smirk. I only went to him upon a recommendation. That was one recommendation I should have researched first. Because he took me for $1650.00 using only some new parts and inferior work. Just my opinion but my opinion cost me $1650.00 and got only more problems because of his inferior work. I will NOT ever step foot in or recommend Lietz Automotive in Villa Park. He doesn't run an honest business...
