Arcadia Smog Test Only Center

This place is absolutely horrible… I should have read the reviews to know what to except. On 2.3.26, I paid cash for a smog check and used a $20 coupon. My vehicle did not pass (check engine light / too lean bank 1) and I was told I had 10 days to come back to complete and pass the test again; or, I will have to pay again. Today, 2.5.26, my car was serviced at Pep Boys. I checked and found that the Smog Test Only Station closes at 5 p.m. When I arrived, at 4:48 p.m. I saw the roll-up door closed, but the pedestrian door was open. I was approached by an abrasive male what stated, “We’re closed.” I said I thought you closed at 5 p.m. He stated, “We’re take the last customer at 4:45 p.m. because it takes 20 minutes to complete a test.” I said I am (3) minutes late, a return customer (with my paid receipt / failed test results), and had my vehicle serviced and repaired today. He stated, “You have to drive it 100 miles before you come back to re-test.” “You could have just had the computer re-set.” I was not told about the needed 100 miles to be driven. The male who assisted me (2) days ago walked up and I told him that I was not told this by him. He said, “I do not remember you.” The rude guy tells me that Pep Boys should have told me about the 100 miles and that I should have told them why I was there; basically it all falls on me. He also stated, “You could have just had the computer re-set with out any repairs to pass a smog test.” If this is a Smog Test Station rule, then they should have told me… not Pep Boys… after going back and forth, I said I will come back within the 10 days and drive the car as much as I can. I do not appreciate the accusation of possibly having the computer re-set without being repaired. I am only going back to complete the test, will never use this site again, and will share my experience to family, friends, and co-workers. Rudeness will slowly bring down a business. Proper customer service brings back business.

These guys absolutely suck. They’re awful. They run a bait and switch scam whereby they entice customers in with a $20 coupon. Then they refuse to honor the coupon saying it wasn’t presented when you walk in the door. (Coupons are presented at time of payment. Otherwise, disreputable businesses, like this one, can charge a higher price to makeup for the coupon.) Meanwhile, the workers print the coupons themselves, and use them on your behalf - and THEY pocket the $20!!! What a bunch of losers. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO ELSEWHERE! I Hope they get reported to the State of California and lose their operators license.

Overall we had a good experience. We used their cash only coupon to get the discount for the Smog Check. Friendly people, I will recommend them to all my friends.

I failed the smog test (dead battery), but they offer a free retest within 10 days. They're a friendly group of people and the prices are reasonable. No complaints here.

Extremely rude mechanics with poor customer service. I arrived at this location and everything look very disorganized and employees made themselves look as if they were too busy to help/ assist. Low and behold as soon as I place one foot inside the "smog" room a irate employee yells at me "YOU CANT BE IN HERE!" There's not a single sign or notice that says "do not enter - employees only ". He keeps yelling "YOU CANT BE IN HERE!!!" So I walk away and say "okay , you don't have to be a dick about it sir," and drove off to the next smog station. Don't waste your time here. One can only imagine how they would treat a lady....
